Once upon a time back in 1.0x ns_caged, I was running out of the marine base (in the middle of being destroyed) towards gen hive side. What do you know...2 eggs sitting in the hall! However, these were smart eggs...they were behind offensive chambers, defensive chamber and web. Nevertheless, I ran to em, got tangled in web shot by ocs and hopped over the dcs. I actually decided to be a egg trap once.. I was going onos (almost outside their base), and I told 2 skulks to stay here.. sure enough 2 marines come around the corner and they just see that big juicy egg.. and start running at me with knives drawn... The skulks made lunch of them before they could touch me..
The other good one is the ol' cloaked ONOS guarding a egg.. Marines come.. and are devoured before they have a clue what happened... I actually had someone accuse the egg of h4xing... 'how can an egg devour me??'

My two worst egg stories.... Bullets flying all around and Im shouting at skulk to go away go away!!!!! but then it happens a few stray shots hit me just as the skulk dies.... for a second im thinking did he see me?? Second is on the flip side of the first... Im having a bad game and we are getting mauled as marines at MS. My best experience as marine was.... I could <b>hear</b> some skulks, and I was crouch walking along, trying to see them first, and suddenly... "HEY! I CAN'T MOVE FORWARD" I try strafing, nope, not webbed.. I push forward, and it <i>blurs</i> in front of me.
There's only an Oni egg cloaked right in front of me, and I'm crouch walking into it it.

Someone did try to nail me as an egg, and it was one of those Onos situations. I evolve as Onos, off runs the rine, me giving chase while taunting him ruthlessly.
I've got a bit more sadistic in my old age, sitting with a knife in front of the egg for a few seconds, or a shotty, and getting real up close just so the alien inside starts swearing over his voice comm..... mwahahahaaa.

I remember an old game in 1.04, on Tanith, as an alien. The marines weren't playing very well, and we had put up the second and third hive at about the same time. We had agreed to not evolve to Fade when the second hive went up and instead save resources so that we could all gestate to Onos when the third hive went up. It went up, we all started gestating. Then a marine came. One marine, alone in Waste Handling with six or seven Onos eggs... Fortunately he was only able to kill one of us before we started hatching.
Ahh, but some of the best egg moments are in the ready room after the round is over. Egg dancing, leap egg, and everyone's favorite, catch the egg. Egg stories? Bah, just this day I've had one of the worst egg rounds yet. Three times in a row I got pwned while gestating, 3 f'ing times. First one I almost got lucky, just upgrading regen when the marine ran in. He pulled out his knife and began the slicing, ooo I was so close to finishing and mauling his a** off.
The second one was a little worse. We were trying to clear out CC, after having a bad time in Eclipse, by fade rushing. I was one of three fades heading in and I was the last to get the to res gestate. So after being hurried by the team to finish, I carelessly went fade behind an rt. After I got about a 1/4th of the way through I hear some footsteps coming down. I was hoping they would take awhile killing the rt and not see me but nope, 5 marines carrying sg's. Boom, gg. Our fade assault was stopped dead in its tracks. (no pun intended)
The third was just a desperation act, I went lerk in one of the vents under the birdges in the hive that's not Eclipse or CC, forgot the name. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> Anyway, the marines were coming in with the last jp/sg rush to finish us off so I figured I'd go hide in a vent, lerk, then pwn a few unsuspecting marines with my l337 sp0r4ge. Nope, a lone marine decided to take the fun route through that very same vent wtih his jp and butcher knife. What else is there to say? He saw me and the slasher flick began, ending with my blood all over the walls. Game over, we got owned.
So now I've made up my mind. Eggs are marine beacons. Unless you gestate at a safe hive it seems that marines are <i>always</i> nearby, stalking you with their egg destoying knives always out. There's no where to hide, they WILL find you... *shifty eyes*

I always feel sorry and guilty for killing an egg, so sometimes I dont. Once I saw this egg, I played around with it. Shot it a few times, but didnt kill it. So out comes this onos. So we hugged and became friends. After the first or second time an egg finished while I knifed it, I started shooting them(especially in hive areas...). Much safer that way, even if it does lack the humiliation aspect.
I remember one time in ns_eclipse we had relocated to Eclipse and were losing pretty badly.. I ran out into Triad and saw a skulk running the other way. I followed it, but before I could shoot, it turned the corner into the node area and evolved. So I shot it dead. Then literally as soon as I turned around another skulk runs to about 10 feet ahead of me and immediately goes into an egg. Mmmm, alien omelettes. One of them said they were going Onos and the other was quiet for a while.

anyway--- my best egg story? I was going gorge to cap one of the res nodes at the start of the game (off in a corner, behind a small change in terrain elevation (you could still easily see me)). Three marines waltz in, and wait for the com to plop a res node down "<i>crap they're going to see me</i>," nothing. Two skulks atack them, in the fight a single LMG bullet hits me, two marines survive; "<i>damn, they <b>know</b> I'm here</i>," nothing. One goes down the hall the skulks came from as a look out, I finish evolving *gorge sound* "<i>now he HAD to hear that, he's gonna turn around and I'm dead</i>," nothing. I start spitting at him, and he didn't seem to notice until he was around 3/4 health "<i>what the heck is this guy doing? and why didn't the Comm drop a RT yet?</i>," at this point as he was turning around and jumpng away from me; I killed him with heal spray. His friend (presumably seeing the death message) runs back; and after a decent LMG/Spit/jumping duel, he dies. That did happen to me....I think "hive must be safe lets get carapace", then I hear the pitter patter of marine combat boots comming from around the corner, by this time 2nd hive is up and I am aiming at the marine frantically pressing the fire button to activate leap...out I pop and down the marine goes....yeah good times...no egg for YOU!!!

Im having a bad game and we are getting mauled as marines at MS. I escape from MS and arrive at a hive on my own having ducked and dived (so to speak) to make a one man attack in their home ground (my last stand) as I turn into hive room I see a <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> drop to egg. Laughing to my self I pull my nife and run in. I jump on and around the egg stabbing at it. Im not rushing as he must be going <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> or at least <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo--> (they have so much res and the game is all but over) and I want to enjoy the kill (sad I know)...... but nooooooo!!! out pops skulk and kills me on the spot.

Someone did try to nail me as an egg, and it was one of those Onos situations. I evolve as Onos, off runs the rine, me giving chase while taunting him ruthlessly.
I've got a bit more sadistic in my old age, sitting with a knife in front of the egg for a few seconds, or a shotty, and getting real up close just so the alien inside starts swearing over his voice comm..... mwahahahaaa.
Egg stories? Bah, just this day I've had one of the worst egg rounds yet. Three times in a row I got pwned while gestating, 3 f'ing times. First one I almost got lucky, just upgrading regen when the marine ran in. He pulled out his knife and began the slicing, ooo I was so close to finishing and mauling his a** off.
The second one was a little worse. We were trying to clear out CC, after having a bad time in Eclipse, by fade rushing. I was one of three fades heading in and I was the last to get the to res gestate. So after being hurried by the team to finish, I carelessly went fade behind an rt. After I got about a 1/4th of the way through I hear some footsteps coming down. I was hoping they would take awhile killing the rt and not see me but nope, 5 marines carrying sg's. Boom, gg. Our fade assault was stopped dead in its tracks. (no pun intended)
The third was just a desperation act, I went lerk in one of the vents under the birdges in the hive that's not Eclipse or CC, forgot the name. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> Anyway, the marines were coming in with the last jp/sg rush to finish us off so I figured I'd go hide in a vent, lerk, then pwn a few unsuspecting marines with my l337 sp0r4ge. Nope, a lone marine decided to take the fun route through that very same vent wtih his jp and butcher knife. What else is there to say? He saw me and the slasher flick began, ending with my blood all over the walls. Game over, we got owned.
So now I've made up my mind. Eggs are marine beacons. Unless you gestate at a safe hive it seems that marines are <i>always</i> nearby, stalking you with their egg destoying knives always out. There's no where to hide, they WILL find you... *shifty eyes*
personally ive NEVER been knifed as an egg out of my own hive..
But evil rambo's just waltz right in.. knife me, then spawn kill like 5 skulks b4 dying..

Once I saw this egg, I played around with it. Shot it a few times, but didnt kill it. So out comes this onos. So we hugged and became friends.

However, an Onos is not a chestburster. Chestbursters are small and weak, an Onos is most certainly neither.
I remember one time in ns_eclipse we had relocated to Eclipse and were losing pretty badly.. I ran out into Triad and saw a skulk running the other way. I followed it, but before I could shoot, it turned the corner into the node area and evolved. So I shot it dead. Then literally as soon as I turned around another skulk runs to about 10 feet ahead of me and immediately goes into an egg. Mmmm, alien omelettes. One of them said they were going Onos and the other was quiet for a while.

Yeah... that's like in 1.0X where you only had generator (as aliens), and you tell your team "suicide sewers, I'm sneaking the Vent hive." sure enough there's at least two skulks that atack vent, and run to you (by the hive) expecting healing, only to have a marine follow them; resulting in seiges being built, and mass pinging... now that I think about it, this happened recently to me in 2.XX too.
anyway--- my best egg story? I was going gorge to cap one of the res nodes at the start of the game (off in a corner, behind a small change in terrain elevation (you could still easily see me)). Three marines waltz in, and wait for the com to plop a res node down "<i>crap they're going to see me</i>," nothing. Two skulks atack them, in the fight a single LMG bullet hits me, two marines survive; "<i>damn, they <b>know</b> I'm here</i>," nothing. One goes down the hall the skulks came from as a look out, I finish evolving *gorge sound* "<i>now he HAD to hear that, he's gonna turn around and I'm dead</i>," nothing. I start spitting at him, and he didn't seem to notice until he was around 3/4 health "<i>what the heck is this guy doing? and why didn't the Comm drop a RT yet?</i>," at this point as he was turning around and jumpng away from me; I killed him with heal spray. His friend (presumably seeing the death message) runs back; and after a decent LMG/Spit/jumping duel, he dies. That did happen to me....I think "hive must be safe lets get carapace", then I hear the pitter patter of marine combat boots comming from around the corner, by this time 2nd hive is up and I am aiming at the marine frantically pressing the fire button to activate leap...out I pop and down the marine goes....yeah good times...no egg for YOU!!!
