but i'd wish to know, if the cc is supposed to have full hp at spawn...
i can remember, that the cc had this behaviour in 2.0, i don't know if it where in 1.04, too.
but lately i had a little "accident" with the all-hated marine wall of lame (btw the only wol i can think of);
we, the kharaa team where under heavy attack, had 2 hives to this moment and one hive where going under attack with a pg / ha / hmg rush, "we" hardly could effort an onos for attack on this outpost, and this player had the chance to trash the outpost.
but, since cc's got full hp @ spawn, "their" commander put it right in front of the onos and so it got wasted.
"he" said, he would play what the ingame-rules would enable him to, but i still think its to cheap to win on this way,
so, is it supossed to be so... lame?
or not?
i don't know.

Have another one like this. Some **** did some keybind scripting to have faster access to the observatories. No problem so far, but he used the scannersweep to kill our fps and latency. He spammed dozends of scans at us and while we lagged like hell we got ripped by GL surpression fire.

CC's need to have arond 2500 before being built, it's so exploitable right now it ain't even funny.
A 20 res structure compeltely negates a considerable investment by a gorge.
It's generally well worth the cost even if you are somewhat short on res. The only downside is the comm hears "the command chair is under attack for the next 8 hours."

I had a bunch of ideas on what to write but in the end decided on that. People who play gorge are so under appreciated.
Anyway, to keep the thread on topic, CCs probably should cost more or have a lot less HP before being built.

What i'v seen done is this: drop a CC ontop of the hive all the OCs(even if not in LOS) will try and fire at it but only hit the hive, so no under attack message. And for some reasons an OC can peg you jumping by a door but they can't hit the broad side of a CC half the time, you will see them shooting THE WRONG WAY most of the time.
(he is normaly a marine player)
he thinks, this tactic is to damn cheat and doesn't have anything to do with gameplay avaible, its just cheap, too.
the result is just too damn effective against the cost-factor..!

...and it sounds to me like you just had an encounter with a commander who had a brain...
If you do this in tourney mode, the OCss will take the hive out, and the only way for the aliens to stop it is to kill all of their own OCs... making it easier for marines to walk in, and there's no point in killing the CC on top of the hive cause the comm can just drop another.

there a surely more than 10 nerfs (on alien side) or improves (on rine side) in the last 2 upgrades...
and marines got still whine around if they got wastet!

As for the OC distraction , it's a very valid tactic , though evil (especially in tournament mode , drop a CC over the hive and watch the OCs hurt it)
If the OCs are spread enough , the marines will either have to stop and destroy them (highly exposed to skulks) or pass through , taking damage.
CCs can't be recycled , so it's a dodgy strategy to throw them in alien defenses. The comm could have made a TF to let the marines through , then recycled it : way cheaper (even cheaper than healing the said marines)
Huge CC walls are just as lame as huge turretfarms. They're easily counterable , but it requires a bit of effort on the alien side. Only the marines who don't play to win and stretch the end game by defending them , are lame.
No matter how you slice it, CC dropping is lame. The only people that like it or think it's fine are, quite obviously, people that play exclusively marines.
C'mon, stnading on the PG doesn't work anymore, now why the hell are CCs still able to neutralize an entire frickin' defense system?
its really lame when the comm drops buildings ON people... so a solution would be that you can't build structures where someone is standing.
buildings are placed with a bunch of hp - i can think of a bunch of exploits, like gorges dropping ocs like crazy and hiding behind them. or cc spamming. or spamming rts on open nodes... how bout make it like a lot of rts games, buildings start with 1 hp and get more as they're built?

And you cant even compare Gorge's method of building to a Commander... unbuilt chambers are EASILY removed quickly... compared to a 10000 HP comm chair.

Structures start with 1 hp is the best idea I've heard in a long time. I'm all for that.

You can't. The only time structures end up getting people stuck is if they moved into the place that the COM dropped it *after* he dropped it but *before* it materialized.
BTW - there is a server plug-in that requires CC's be so many units away from each other (there are other modifiers like: if they have to be built for the range limitation to take effect and such). This is the anti-cc wall.
As for onos death traps, have stuck bound. As for the cc-oc-hive tourney mode, spread out your OC's properly - and have someone bite the CC every so often.

Twoheadedchicken is the primary reason I wan't CC's to be fixed. Not to mention nothing has some really crappy parts of the map, but untill then it shouldn't be so easily exploited.
In all RTS games, buildings start with a very low amount of HP, and progressivly get more as they are built, not to mention they take 2x as much damage when under construction - why can't this be done in NS?

I've never done it on top of a hive, but I dropped on CC in the middle of 8 OC's and 8 DC's in a scrim I commanded once. The OC's went absoutly nuts, they hit aliens, hives, each other, but never did they hit a marine rofl.

yep, but i think its only in warcraft3 that buildings under construction take 2x damage.
