OK OK, HL with more polies and 32 bit textures...every wall seemed like it was there because it had to be there to block VIS. It felt like I was in a WW2 themed funhouse and everytime I looked up I saw a vent on the ceiling that ruined the experience.
IT seemed horribly outdated for a game coming out right now.
Outdated compared to what games? I'm being sincere here, I am surprised on how hostile you are to the game when I'm so enjoying myself with it.
I wonder if you aren't having too high expectations, that any new game must measure up to the elusive Doom 3/Half-life 2 yardsticks, that the only valid gameplay is the one where you are put in a huge free environment and you can go in any directions and do anything and no wall will ever block your "vis".
I'll just say it didnt live up to the hype that caused me to want to DL it in the first place.
Glad your enjoying it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm reserving final judgement till I have tried out Multiplayer. I'm currently fighting out in Stalingrad. Now, the first scenarios are quite hard and memorable.

I just bought this yesterday and I must say I really like it.
The graphics are actually great. Turn them all the way up and I can't think of anything that bothers me in the least. The AI is great, I've died a few times and every single time I load the gameplay always plays in a different sequence with different things happening at different times. The AI is actually quite good, your teammates actually put up quite a fight many times.
I would have prefered more Allied units in the game to add to the reality of war, my only problem is the ratio of Allied to Axis deaths, other than that. Lovely game.
Sirius, I know you love this game and most people in the gaming world do, but when your a counter-strike vet like me, shooting nazis don't pose a challenge. None the less I would say that playing call of duty is more like hitching a ride and watching cool things unfold while shooting some guys along the way.
