Meh, Im bored, and yes I have read every page of the same type of topic on the firearms forum, but I would like to see what you guys think.

Zombies and melee weapons. We all know that there are very few things more satisfying than taking a Chainsaw to the head of a flesh eating undead horror.

I ask you: what is the most effective combination of melee weapons for killing zombies?
Also, what weapons would you take with you during a zombie outbreak?

Me? Axe. The sweet axe. With a large rubber handle, so no slipping ig blood goton it. The axe would be perfect, one blow to the neck would sever the spinal cord.

I concur. I've had this conversation MANY times with people...

My exact scenario was:

You wake up to find that your city has been overrun by zombies. The old slow moving feeble type. What do you do?

Run to the wholesale sporting goods store. Get a pistol grip shotgun and a backpack full of shells. Maybe get a couple hatchets for throwing too. Oh, and a compound bow. Those things are sick.

Start walkin!

That OTs-02 Kiparis submachine gun (Russia) reminds me
of something from GoldenEye... remember that?

Anyway, for killing a Zombie i'd probably use the Cobra
thingy pictured above... but I get the impression the recoil
would be a hassle... i.e armless hassle.
I think a nice Katana or sharp pointy thing would surfice.

My Personal Armoury?

Melee: Katana as mentioned by many people before me, its sharp and hurts.

Jackhammer: Its a shotgun and a very good one at that

SA80-A2: Its reliable and it looks snazzy.

(And the Goldeneye gun it looks like is the Klobb DY357LX)

molotoves, napalm, Dynomite, grenades anything will do the trick

It would have to be a shotty. Any kind, i'm not fussy and i'm not going to pretend I know the name of every gun ever created.

And a Deagle as a backup, since it has the ability to punch a nice hole through zombie heads <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'>

And probably a grenade launcher of some kind to blow nice neat holes in their massed ranks, or maybe molotov cocktails would be more fun? I mean, dead people burn well...

*edit* I forgot my melee weapon, probably a chainsaw, but not one of those big ones for cutting down trees, one of the little ones for trimming hedges and such, that way I can have one in each hand <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'> *edit*

If a city was over runned by zombies.

A tatical nuclear warhead would probably be used by the governments. If it wasn't to be nuked.

I'd carry a sword, preferably a katana of course. Light, but hard.
Any kind of pistol that can withstand firing explosive rounds.
I'd probably either sport a D.Eagle, Sig Saur p228, Berreta 92f or 92r (3rb)
Shotgun
Some explosives
Some armor..since teeth will take a while to bite through
And a G36e or C (lol) for my full auto defense. Maybe use C-mags buhahaha
For my 2nd full auto defense, i'd use a Mp7-PDW..i love these <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> ..same with MP5ks haha

And i'd hijack one of those extended busses to fit in as many allies as i can for drive-bys and transportation..its' heavy, somewhat armor, and only 2 ways for the zombies to get in, but it can be easily blocked off...and since we'd be fully mentally abled, we can jump through the windows to get in or out.

Firearms: A flamethrower, a shotgun (THE only way to shoot zombies) and a Deagle or 92FS for backup.

Explosives: Some grenades and molotov cocktails.

Close combat: A katana, although I'd only go into close combat with zombies if there was no alternative whatsoever.

+ A suit of body armor.

whenever I get a choice of guns I always want a barret... nothing like an anti-vehicle sniper rifle for taking out people/zombies. Mainly because in RL it hits with so much force you'd actually, genuinely gib XD

A jackhammer (the gun) for fighting with really and for melee you don't want to get bitten so probably something long reaching yet cool like one of those hover lawnmower with the exposed whirling blade on it's underneath (see the film 'braindead' for details <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'> )

Terminator Armour (warhammer 40k) would be super handy too too as it'd make you nigh on invulnerable =D

I just realised that you must be able to carry the weapons...lol.

Melee: Katana or if thats no avalible some sort of mace/hammer.
Pistol: One of those Magnum Revolvers, boom off goes mr zombies head
Main Weapon: Tough call, maybe a double barrel swan off shotgun or if i wanted a automatic weapon Abinko (sp?) Mini-Uzi's or perhaps a M4A1 Carabine.
Explosive: Easy one here Frag Grenades, boom goes zombie.
Fire: Molotovs

Hmm, I would probably take some kind of auto weapon,like m4a1 with grenade launcher attachment, for when the really big zombies come.(because you know there is gunna be some big boss zombie that looks like an infested fat person). Then for a side arm a Desert eagle, for when that lone zombie is looking at you the wrong way. Then pack twin uzi's for just cutting huge groups of zombies in half, literaly. And finally, for those of you who know what hellsing is (its an anime) I'd want those finger wire things that one guys uses(can't for the life of me remember his name :/ ) they are these ultrafine wire that come off of his fingers, and he just kind of waves them and cuts entire groups of people into thirds.

Gem: interesting idea with the term armour, except you would be completely owned if one of them was carrying a starcannon <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

As for myself... a shotgun and a flamethrower would be nice. Zombie's will prolly be dumb enough to set each other on fire if i hit a few with the flamethrower (at range) and any zombie that comes close enough get's a shotgun blast! Also, a PDW with hollow points would be nice for mowing zombies down.. an MP5k with a C mag maybe...

Sledgehammer, baby. Nothing beats a sledgehammer for good ole' killing of zombies. Yep. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>
As for a pistol, mebbe a berretta. Those are always nice.
If I had to choose a sub-machine gun, I'd have to take a m4a1 Thompson with the drum. Good old fasioned fun.
Shotgun, SPAS-12... Or a Benelli M3.
Assault Rifle...I always liked the Steyr Aug I guess.
Definately an M-60...Cant forget one of those!
I think I'd throw in 8 or 10 single-shot LAW's while I'm at it.

Transportation is always needed, as is cargo space for all your zombie smashing needs. I'd get a modified shopping cart. Run by a 6 hp motor, You hang on the back and put your foot on a wheel to slow one side down to turn! <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>
