for those of you who don't know: Brookstone is compared to sharper image, except it's cooler in ways and has more functional stuff. while they don't have awesome and useless gigantic stormtrooper statues, they do have lots of massagers and vibrating things and lamps and pens and vibrating pen lamps.

Just finished an Xmas job at Virgin Megastore hoping to go into the Royal Mail for a bit as I need to clear off some of my debts before I go into the Royal Marines.

I'm a CAD drafter/designer for Herman Miller office furniture. I make 3D models and 2D drawings that range from "cookie cutter" worksurfaces (desk tops) to fully assembled office systems (piece by piece).
This looks very similar to my work area :
Well, I step in front of cars and then sue the drivers.
Other than that, B&Q hired monkey, i.e, I do everything. Shelf stacking, cashiering, trolley collecting (FUN!)e.t.c.
Those unfamiliar with B&Q, they are a DIY supplier, essentially an English version of Home Depot right down the the orange aprons. The only real difference is that your average B&Q is considerably more organised than your average home depot, i.e, we tend to put our products on the shelves rather than all over the floor. We also wash said floors occasionally.
[corporate brainwashing] We also went international way before Home Depot, and are now 3rd in the entire world for DIY supplies. [/corporate brainwashing]
I recently underwent 2 whole 8-hour days of induction trainning which was basically 16 hours of corporate propaganda. It seems to have worked though.
*Salutes the B&Q flag*
I should point out this is a part time job while I finish college.

2) Shop clerk - "Hello, I am the disgruntled clerk. What stale jokes may I hear from you today? Oh, how marvelously funny. It was funny the first 999 times too. No, that coffee is not free. Sir, please take your worthless rear end and that needle you are desperately trying to load so you can get insta-happiness out of the shop! Hold it right there, pal - you've got something that is actually mine until you pay for it. Yes, officer, there is a man outside my shop window fondling his private parts. What, he escaped from you earlier today?! No, I don't get paid to listen to that crap so please leave before I help you to do so."
The job is really not that bad and has its moments of hilarity too. Unfortunately, sometimes things get a bit messy when I find the occasional dealer trying to sell his wares inside the shop, or the occasional really-fooked-up junkie trying to pocket something. I sometimes wonder that I haven't had to call the cops once. The one thing I really like about in the whole thing is my employer. He's a very nice guy who doesn't complain about anything irrelevant and even tolerates me occasionally being a bit late for shift. The guy who ran the shop before my employer bought it actually got kicked out of there by the chain. Apparently he had been reporting lower sales than he actually had, so he wouldn't have to pay as much franchising fees. When my employer took control of the shop, we learned that the previous guy had been doing a profitable side business as well, since we had some rather shady characters come in and ask if we had esso (a finnish slang term for extacy) for them.
3) Industrial/rhythmic noise event organizer / DJ - The best damn job I'll ever have since I get to decide what happens and when, and I don't really have to answer to anyone, except perhaps the staff of the bars/clubs I organize events in, and they don't complain since the crowd I bring in doesn't cause any problems whatsoever.
Im currently a student but as a part time job I am a Kitchen Staff Member at a local pub. Basically I wash up, prepare food and run into the cellar to get things but thats about it.
Its not very good pay but hey im under the minimum wage age anyway. I get £3.00 an hour cash in hand and genrally do 3-6 hour shifts, depending on the day and how busy it is.
All in all its pretty good for a 15 year old who never flipping goes out to spend it anyway, bloody "Gangsta" people in my town. Dumb townies! YOU RUIN OUR LIVES!!!!!
