Stalker Leaked
<div class="IPBDescription">Bwaargh!!</div> I found this on the Hostile Intent forums.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Just as the noise from the H-L 2 beta release and of the methods used to procure it are dying down, a new early version has come to shock game developers.
Just before 2004 stumbled in, a Pre-Alpha version of STALKER surfaced on various P2P networks. Unlike the Half-Life 2 pre-release, this one, it is rumoured, is very playable and only needs some basic messing around with configuration files in order to work.
We were sent a screenshot from this release which does seem to be in full working order. It is certain that this build (1096) does not carry the full feature set of the game and that it definitely lacks the graphics and audio refinement which will grace the release version of STALKER.
It is however, important to mention that most Megagames readers who have contacted us, claim that the Pre-Alpha plays extremely well, with high frame rates and excellent quality on a wide range of, even the most basic, systems.
If the hype wasn't enough, this leak may prove an excellent PR weapon for the game's creators since it seems to be carrying out the job of a good demo. Let's hope the finished product will be just as good. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

[EDIT] I guess it's a game, but is it special in some way?
/me runs for cover
Right the minority cause trouble for the majority.
Still its a shame this happens those selfish people dont know how much it costs the developers in lost licencing fees.
I mean what would the world be like if Quake 3's source code was leaked back before its realese, think how many games use it.
One person said that while leaks are a bad thing they can be used to attract sales as people download the alpha and say hey, this is rather good. I'll get this.
Another of the Next gen games that looks cool; and by cool, I mean totally sweet
Much of the same things that are slated up for games like HL2:
AI, Physics etc etc <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Theres nothing good about that. The sad thing is, the games are leaked by people working for the companies that develop them. Some joe-shmo that had a data entry job desides he's going to be cool and leak the game. bah.. makes me sick
No kidding, I heard they had to set the release back oh HL2 because one "hacker" stole the master coding for the game. This set the game back extra months because the had to re-work the hole code to prevent "cheats' in the game. It was set for october, but because this it was set back.
Some gamers go too crazy and just can't wait, but still hacking is not the key.
(this is for those who haven't heard, but i'm sure everyone has)
(NOT sure if it was ture or not, never bothered to look)
im not saying it is... but like.. it seems clever...
' i downloaded this leaked copy of stalker cos it was like hot property on bt, i liked it but it wasnt fully func, so ill buy it when it comes out'
its just like a demo with a kickstart....
Trust me no company is stupid enugh to leak their own files
My personaly fav on leaks is that some one set up a fake copy of the HL source that was simply a 3gig folder of **** porn <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (when I say 3gig I mean what ever the size of the source was)
Only if they plan on playing single player.

The hacker didnt STEAL the code you nub, he simply copied it. Do you think Gabe is going to have the only code on HIS computer after they worked on it for 4 years. No, they should have backups
Welcome to the Internet.
I'd like to see one game that WASN'T leaked (other than the ones that were so bad no one bothered)...

You really misinterpreted what he said. Yes the "Hacker" did STEAL it. That game code was not his and he took it, so he stole it from Valve. And he doesn't mean they have to completely rebuild the game from scratch, they do have to rework most of the code I'd imagine. Can you think what'd it be like if they left everything the same so hackers would have the code to work with to make their cheats.
Look before you leap <span style='color:white'>Chill or be chilled.</span>
If i stold candy from a store its gone. If i copied it or cloned it, they can have their candy and i get mine.

Not according to intellectual property laws. Try that argument against the RIAA and federal anti-piracy laws.
I seem to recall some nerd riots a few months ago with the HL2 fiasco...
Hypocrites.
Once you download a leaked game, you will simple Dl the hole thing witch is so much of a disrespect to Valve and other companyies. They worked so hard so you can leak there game where millions will simple DL for free.
I'm a luvky one because my bros friends buy and just spread it around to all there friends (Me included <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) Which is cool, but i will end up buying anyway just to get one of the first copies (LOL right like that will happen) and of course give respect to the kings, Valve.
~sigh~
