Not to mention that many times, and it's very noticeable in conversations, people aren't thinking critically and are simply regurgitating what their told, a political proxy I suppose. I assume that's some what juvenille.

It's a rather off hand comment anyways, as it should be taken as a grain of salt, but we can act immature on occasions. Take it tongue in cheek if you must. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

So being uninformed or just plain ignorant is immature?

Bit of a broad label we got here...

I think I'll side with Ryo on this one. Even though we are half a world apart, as human beings we can agree on the large difference between these traits...

Quite impressive story there Forlorn. But one question puzzles me, wasnt the depression in the thirties? The thirties didnt have 24 inch televisions and NES <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It would also mean you were around 70 years old <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> SO I guess you didnt mean the thirties, but what period exactly was it?

I believe there was a recession in the 80's... Not quite a depression, but depending on where you were economically during that time it probably felt like one ( I was too young to know ).

The recession was at the end of the regonomic's boom. I call it a depression because it was one for my family. My father went hungry to feed me and my brother at times.

Tommorrow I'll finish my bias influence's story.

It was a fairly global economic slump. We suffered it here in Australia as well; cost my family their jobs and our house. We were living in a garage for a few weeks before we could scrape together enough cash for another place to live.

And again, we seem to be slipping away from the noble idea of an autobiographical thread... I think we'll all be better for it if people talk about themselves and others not sidetrack things about their bios. Who's next?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for here. Please give some examples.

As for the rest, I'm no Bush Bandwagon Junky and his most recent stunts aimed at gaining votes in the next election are really pushing me away from the ballot box for next fall but for me, the alternative is too much for my stomach to handle.

    Agreed.

    I guess I'll add why I became a libetarian.

After years of blindly following everything Republicans said, I came to realize that while I dislike democrats, I also dislike republicans? Why? Becuase both parties are too damned political, and hypocritical. While I like loose party based systems due to each canidate being able to represent his/her area, I don't like how party leaders will take one stance then switch to the other.

Ugh, that and I love the idea of letting people live their lives the way they wish to.

    Things I disagree with:

Totally open abortion (I believe limited to the first two months or in cases of Incest or Rape)

Totally Free Trade: Would screw the working man compltely, not what we want, though I do believe in low tarrifs and what not.

Becoming a pot smoker I guess liberalized me a little. Take a look at posts these days, compared to my ones of the old. Though do not think of me as able to Tolerate Michael Moore, I sure as hell haven't changed that much <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

If you NEED a party to sum up your opinions you are a sad person, can't anyone think for themselves anymore? Or should Ronald and Mayor McCheese whisper their commands into your head.

    I know I'm a hardcore pro-life supporter.

I know I want the NRA trashed.

I think US should increase the tax (I know, I'm a weirdo) for better quality public service.

    I favour Large Government.

I know I loathe Michael Moore.

I think Bush can go to hell.

Hmm... May be I'm a pro-life democrat, or anti-NRA republican?

Ok, well, the noble experiment of having people provide autobiographical information and how it shapes their views is obviously failed. This is closed, and we're worse off for it.
