I spent about 30mins and it just came to me, even though youv allready said then answere. You are a <u><b><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Cannon</span></b></u>

I am creation:
Either you create fire or created war. War through ppl confidense at having such a powerfull weapon

Fire swirls in my innards:
You fire using gunpowder creating fire. Engulfing/Swirling around the cannon ball pushing it out (In slow motion pictures you can a cannon ball spining when it is fire out.)

In days long past, I fueled countless marches to war:
Its a long time sinse hey where used, but when they did thay gave their side hope and confidence

Today, i am but a symbol of a bygone trade:
Cannons where traded a lot in the past. Or it means somthing thats old being traded. (Not eaclty sure what that was supost to mean really)

You may know me by one of my signature pieces:
A simble engraved on your side, or nowerdays standing in/on a <u>castle</u>.

A blackened monolith, a symbol of strength:
You are obsolete and unused. Originally or painted black and standing on fortifications. The major strength defending/attacking a castle.
