<div class="IPBDescription">Am I the only one who hates them?</div> I was just wondering if I'm the only one who hates 3.0 lerks.
I don't like the new movement.
I don't like how they don't get spikes.
They should have an option that allows you to change movement to the old style or new one. Lerks should also have 2 level 1 attacks. Bite and Spikes.
What do you think?

A focus lerk is a badass alien.
It shreds light marines quite easily and is very cheap, so if you die, no biggie, you can lerk again very soon.
You just need to get used to the new model, that's all.
Flap thrice and hold your key, marines heads will come to thee...
Flap like a fool, and you'll be owned ... old school!
If marine's heads are what you seek, aim for one and snap your beak...
Should you try to get them all, you'll be hit dead ... right into the wall!

Yes.
Lerk flight pwns you.
already thought about an equal thread.
new lerk needs re-thinking in easier movement.
Miss the old Spikes.
Aliens has it is, really need a ranged attack of some sort. Lerk spike was it...
Bring back lerk spikes! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Aliens need help killing jetpackers, and acid rocket is way too weak (especially in combat)...

Mouselook.
How could it be any simpler? It's even highly intuitive. Going up? You're slowing down. Going down? You're speeding up.
With the old lerkflight system, people were basically small, moving turrets.. With spikes instead of bullets. People got used to the early game lerk taking out small outposts, and random marines.
If I wasn't so team oriented (I.E. I didn't want to blow 30 res on an upgrade that essentially only benefits me in terms of RFK), I'd go lerk every round and obliterate marines left and right as the rest of my alien counterparts sat there with their thumbs up their butts.

the new lerk is the pwn. more like an actual animal flying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to swoop, and scary as marine. it gets my stamp of aproval.
*stamps the new lerk, making sure he doesnt bite me*
in the early 2.0 times when bite whas taken away the sound in this forum was the same "give the bite back"... and now in 3.0 "give the spike back"...
I loved the lerks spikes but i think that in longer run the "full-melee" alien race is better than 1.xx fades from hell.
but the flying... there is no reverse in my game. Sensitivity 1 <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If you guys are whining about the lerk NOW, you should have seen it when it was first put in.
You could NOT do anything without Adrenaline. Seriously. You could NOT fly and bite in any way, shape or form.
They toned down the amount you slow down when you turn, they DRASTICALLY decreased the energy it takes to flap, they made each "flap" more powerful then 2.0 flaps ever were.. They sped up bite, and reduced damage (Did 70 due to a bug, toned it to 50, gave a bit of an increase), and look at it now.
It friggin owns. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The spike attack wasent storng, and usually wouldent take down a jp quickely, but at least it was something, and it was the main reason i liked using the skulk.
And to be honest i now never use the lerk, i instead save up to use the fade, which i never used in 2.0, and at that time opted for the weaker lerk, because in both cases it can be really difficult trying to learn how to use one or the other even remotley effective, if you can even pull it off.
If Flayra is making marines that can move faster then a skulk and fly with grenade launchers. Then aliens should have somthing to stop it. A instant hit ranged attack would be the key, spikes. I cant make up my mind for spike vs bite tho
I thought the reason for this is because everything else with wings like that can't glide left & right.
In fact, I can think of a few things that can fly left & right (Hummingbirds for example) but nothing that can glide left & right.

The counter to that is follow him & bite his head off. It just takes practise.
"Oh noez I Hate having to hold down space bar and simply move my mouse the direction I want to go!"
If you find the movement hard, try getting celerity.
My words exactly.
No.
To me, the new lerk is WAAAY better than before. In 2.0 and 2.01, lerks could barely dent HAs.
Now, lerks are one of the most dangerous things to HA.
But you do have to admit that with the removal of spikes, JPers are MUCH harder to hit in midair than before. What stinks more if is he has a GL, and he manages to launcyh one and have it make contact with your face. (Weirdly, it happens to me a lot.)
Just takes some practice. Take your time and make every bite hit, if you flap just in his general direction biting wildly you'll never kill a JPer.
If we could merge Umbra and Spores together as was suggested elsewhere a while ago, since they are fairly similar anyway, then we could have slot 2 free for spikes. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
