    The only thing i dont like about the lerk change is aliens lost one of there only shotgun counters. Now every alien has to get up close to marines with the exception of hive3 fade or a gorge that has abit of backup.

    Although i find the new lerk more fun this is my only problem.

    Ummm... skulk with leap and ANY upgrades can often take down a shotguner... fades cane asily take them down.... onos can normally too.... lerk can easily take down a shotguner... Just need a large room.

    I had such a great run today... cept can't find the screen... I was 56 - 1 near the end, and by the end, i had died a few more times =( 72 - 10

    I think we ended up winning, not so sure...

    But anyways, the only people that could get even close to the hive were jpers, and by the time they got a shot or two off, they were dead =D

    I just kept harassing them in their base at faceoff, I would fly in. Bite somebody, swoop down, bite another and fly back and bite the other two and just keep repeating until it irritated them and made them shoot nade's everywhere.

    16v16 (or 15v15).. That's NOT NOT NOT the way to play combat in any sense of the word. You walk anywhere, and you meet a marine, most likely one without any upgrades, completely lost in a THIRTY PLAYER SERVER.

    Try getting a 40-2 score on a <i>fourteen player</i> server. <i>As a skulk.</i> Then we'll talk, nubcaeks.

    silence/cloack/focus/celerity/adren = secret super stealth B2 bomber lerk that noone sees coming and gets away too fast for anyone to do anything about it. god i love it

    Look right here, just because we're new to the forum doesn't mean we're new to the game..     Anyway, the Lerk owns. New flight owns you and your pet. just a shame about umbra/spore though, i think that they should mix spore with umbra and have a new weapon called "corrode" or something, either as a ranged projectile or a short range splash weapon that slowly erodes away thr armour of a ha. Or i'll just shut up.

    It would be nice if you could choose to use the new flying method or the old one in 1.04.

    They could make a new spcies called the Lork, and have it have the older flight style, and maybe spikes <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    By the way, spikes are still in the game. Use sv_cheats, and type in console 'give weapon_spikegun'

    (might be weapon_spikes or something, not entirely sure)

    but anyways, you can get it, and ti goes into your second slot weaopn along with spores. tis kind of cool....

    I'm pretty sure that as long as it's in the game like that, people could quite easily make a plugin to give you that weapon when you go lerk.

    Personally, I like the removal of spikes. It reinforces the Lerk's position as a support class rather than something to take out on an assault (although it is possible to do so).

    Makes them less of a pain in the rear end to. Glad to know a Lerk cant do jack now from far range when your a heavy.

    Nothing can do jack to a HA at range, except maybe a battery of Focus gorges. Which I would love to see.

    And spike was a support ability in itself, as you were able to hang back and damage marines that were busy fighting other species. Current lerks have bite and a flight system perfect for melee - neither of which seems very support-like to me.

    Also, shouldn't this be in the beta forum? Seems the mods have become complacent during my absence...

    Why do people lerk and get silence and cloak?

    Seriously 75% of the time a lerk should be gliding (no noise) and if the lerk keeps moving cloak is next to useless.

    I like the way the lerk works, in classic maps its either the lerk has a go at killing or if the odds are stacked against him he's forced to support his team.

    Spikes was a lame attack, it slowed down the game too much, i just love the speed at which bite causes devastation. Spore is the ranged weapon why do people deny that? So what if it doesnt damage like spikes did, it just has a different way of achieving it.

    Also why is it so hard to dodge as a lerk? You have so many different ways you can turn to evade shots, hell you dont even need to do damage on your first pass make em use up bullets travel around them and dive bomb them, works like a charm.

    Personally the lerk is the most novel and fun alien of this version in 1.04 it was the fade, in 2.01 it was the onos now in 3.0 the lerk is taking over.

    Spore is neat, but it's only useful against lights and jetpacks. Or alternatively, it's completely useless against HA and structures. That'd be fine if it wasn't the main ranged weapon the kharaa get. Lerks work great with bite, sure - I'm not denying that - but the kharaa would be better off with one species that has a versatile ranged attack than with a fourth species that runs up and hits things. Of course, if that could be done while keeping lerk bite, I'm be all for it.

    spike was cool but overpowered. I took entire outposts guarded by PG, tf and heavies out by spike alone.

    i really hate the old lerk flight. it would make movement nearly impossible for me and maybe for most of u. ever had those moments where u were trying to escape an ha an got stuck above an doorway. it took like ages b4 for u to get low enough to get thru the damm door.

    Further more is it me or is primal scream really useles now days. i used prima scream in 2.01 with spikes and that really owned. but know we dont have spike any more. sure it makes your focus bites faster but is still its useles imho. i like the the attacks in 1.04. That would really own, 3.02 flight with 1.04 attack configuration. I think the lerk would be an fighter then.

    And last thing that i think would be nice to c if the lerk was able to make some aerial acrobatic moves like vertical 360 loops and strafe loops. I mean the things u can do in Battlefield with planes. But i know it would be hard to code.

    I agree than, looking only at the lerk, the new is better than the old. But when you look at it from a team sense, things get iffy.

    Yeah, I hated the old lerk flight, too. But being able to bite focus bites faster with primal scream really does help when it counts.
