Natural Selection... The Tv Show.

Anyone else think it would be cool if Natural Selection could be a TV Show.
Perhaps the show would follow a star ship filled with TSA soliders and each episode would be a mission that the squad would complete. For example, one episode the TSA soliders may exterminate all the Kharaa in a base that was overrun.

jeez no.
just no.
P.S. What's the animating program they used for Boondock Marines (a.k.a. What animator can read BSPs?)
Barry The Marine: Hey commander, I'm home!
<i>*"Audience" Laugh*</i>
Commander: It's about time. Were you humping the armoury again?
Barry: [flustered] No, of course not! I was...er...following orders.
<i>*"Audience" Laugh*</i>
Commander: Well, you're late. You said you'd take Steve to the hive.
Barry: Steve's a moron.
<i>*"Audience" Gasp, Make "Tut Tut" Sounds*</i>
Commander: <i>You're</i> a moron.
<i>*"Audience" Laugh*</i>
And so on, for ever and ever.
your hired
And seriously, could you imagine a serial done to the 'Aliens' movies? It'd be more a question of where the Kharaa was going to jump from THIS episode, than anything really engaging.
Though I'm certain some low-end anime firms (try the guys who made DBZ) would gobble it up. Plenty of room to make useless extra episodes.
Most of Boondock Marines was done using in-game footage. Milkshape can decompile Half-Life <b>.MDLs</b>, and export them as a variety of model types, such as 3DSMax, which was used for the ending segment (I can only assume).
heh just so you know.... dbz anime was made in the late 1980s / early 1990
so your "low end" is actually "high end" 14 years ago.....
anyways..... ns as tv show wouldn't be..... good.......
because every episode would be like the same thing over and over again :x
10 Marines
10 Kharra
1 Hive
ONLY ONE CAN SURVIVE!
If making NS a TV show, do it from the point of view of the Kharaa.
Get Sam Raimi doing the filming, he's got a great eye for funky camera angles.

We actually had a compitition like that.
Called it last man standing. Was fun believe it or not.

Oh, no... I take more into account than just the quality of animation. Such as the scripts.
As an example, 'Bagi' (far older than DBZ) is an excellent film. Comparing series, 'Gotchaman' was quite good as well. Whereas the DBZ scripts are trite, annoying, and pointless. Any series which can let five years pass in a minute, yet carry on a single fight (fight; not battle) for an entire <b>season</b> deserves no respect, and falls into my 'low grade' bucket.
Even standard Dragonball had quite a bit of humor and was enjoyable... a definite cut above.
DBZ mostly dropped that in favor of attempting to be serious and 'powering up', to the point of almost 'Evil Dead' level laughability. It's a B-movie in action, and had been dragged out far longer than it ever should; I'm nearly convinced that someone lost a bet and only kept going so as not to lose face.
Ugh, Dragonball was awful - just a different type of awful to DBZ. Sorry, but it needs to be said.

Pssh, pssh. I liked Dragonball, it was kinda cool. DBZ, though, I have to agree, very repetitive and annoying, definentley not among the ranks of such carefully crafted shows like... Excel Saga? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
P.S. Talesin, what I was asking for is how they got parts of Bast and Eclipse into the animation (like .BSP to .3DS or something like that), but thanks for the input.
Hmm... I wonder what this MilkShape3D program everyone keeps talking about is... [j/k] <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

plz you cant make a tv show for every computergame/comic/book you read
And I wasn't saying that the original DB was too much better... just that if faced with the choice of having to watch DB or DBZ, I'd at least take minor comfort in DB's extra humor, rather than just being Hypercephalic Constipated Forehead Fighters, as DBZ.
A RedVSBlue-styled serial with NS would prove problematic. One team really.. can't say much of anything. So there's little chance for interaction, or humerous cuts. It'd turn, again, into 'where are the Kharaa going to jump from this week'.
If you liked Excel Saga, make sure you watch Puni Puni Poemi! That's HILARIOUS.
Also, if the show was crafted in the style of DBZ, you'd have a marine and a Gorge staring at each other for three episodes going "GRRRRRRRR".
Excel Saga was fun, but painful to watch... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Another decent (and semi-recent) one is FLCL. A six-ep series that you have to watch all the way through, then watch AGAIN to understand what was going on throughout, after having seen the last episode.
AND TONIGHT IN NATURAL SELECTION WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT INTERSPECIES LOVE AFFAIRS. OUR FIRST GUESTS ARE TSA MARINE CORPORAL JONLAN AND FIFI THE ONOS. TELL US JONLAN, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM...
WELL JARRY, I MARRIED FIFI WHEN SHE WAS A PRETTY SKULK, BUT OVER THE YEARS SHE MORFED INTO THIS UGLY FAT SPACE COW THAT'S CRUSHING YOUR BENCHES HERE.
*CROWD: BOOOOOOOOO!*
*WALKS AWAY FROM STAGE* WELL JONLAN, YOU WERE A BIT TACTLESS THERE, BUT I CAN SEE YOUR POINT! GET IT? POINT, AS IN HORN HAHAA... NO FIFI STAY THERE NO NOT AAAAAAAh
*CROWD: JARRY JARRY JARRY JARRY!!*

Then another sixteen with the gorge swelling up like a balloon, and the Marine looking like he'd be much better off if shipbuilders remembered to put a toilet somewhere in the plans.

lol
Then they'd fly around in circles for a few episodes, then, on episode 692: "Nooo! He's too strong! We can't win! Wait... Should I attack?" Bodiless stupid announer guy in overly dramatic voice: "Will Goku attack? Will Evilthing attack? Will they continue flying in circles? Will one of them get dizzy and go off track, making the other one advance on him for eighteen episodes? Find out, later this year, on about twenty dozen more episodes of Dragon Ball Z!"

I have SO got to make an in-game video of that. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> I could convert the map of my house I made years ago for Half Life into an NS map and use it as a set! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
