<div class="IPBDescription">Can anyone help?</div> Would anyone know some good sound effects that make NS spook you out? I'm looking for things like screams in the backround that make you uneasy as you walk down the hallway...

Can anyone help?

EDIT:: Things like random screams, gunshots, agonizing screams, monster sounds, boards creaking, more gunshots and screams replacing the music.

    No. Just make the music files that loop (once fixed properly) play screams, gunshots, growls, and other things evenly spaced out along a one minute frame. Its that easy.

    errr well there is sum AVP sound packs etc, sum decent scary sounds etc...

    or get sum new Alien (the movie) models, i pooped my self wen i played with them, i cant even install AvP2 on my puter now, have to get a m8 to hold my hand when i play lol

    gamma 2

    You might want to use brightness 1, and gamma 3, since your weapon will become black if you enter a shadow, not just darkened as if a shadow was crossing you.

    As for sounds, I can only suggest downloading a pack or something. I think Marxx' sound pack got some scary ambience.

    turn gamma down, play in darkened room, change all the sounds to freaky stuff.

    One time in lunixmonster the server played the aaaagh! scientist scream at the exact moment a player walked into an onos, and the player freaked out and paused long enough to get eaten. He blamed the sound for spooking him.

    Sounds I could suggest are that scream, the hunter leap noise from RE instead of blink (mm, as if fades didn't freak people out already).

    Change the digestion sprite to something more disturbing. That WILL freak you out when it suddenly appears.

    Also play against better players, and rambo constantly. At the very least it should get your blood pumping.

    You wouldnt realize it by the time five different songs (the songs that have been replaced by the screams and gunshots) have gone through their cycle.

    I think it might be more fun to alter the environmental effects as opposed to the backing music.

    Nothing more unnerving then going down a corridor and instead of a sudden whoosh of steam you hear AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

    Sudden bursting pipes whenever you go near

    Screams and ear-piercing shrieks played in the background randomly

    Blood and gory remains of marines found through out the map
    Map features like a dead marine impaled through a pole
    Marine heads, when you look closely, cockroaches would swarm out from the mouth

    well i rember chaing all the modles sounds and etc to alien vs predator models WHOLY $*** when u see onee of em jumping form wall to wall that really makes u **** ur pants... and theyre coloured dark so u cant really see em until its too late... and thats just a skulk...     That made me phear one map real bad... trhen i changed everything to SC and everything was...     I'm currently working on a map thats trying to incorporate these ideas, here's the primary lay out right now...Long dark corridors, with lights spaced out far apart, most rooms aren't lit very well, Marine Start will be the only brightly lit part of the map giving a "false sense of security" to newbie players, there will be plenty of Vents so Marines will hear plenty of skulks rushing silently behind them, I'm looking for sounds now, I'm definitely adding loud screams and screeches.     Oh I failed to mention before, this will be a ns_ map, its no fun if its "fast paced" in CO...so while your trying to build a Res in one of the many darkened corridors you'll be stopping every second to take a peek down the hallway.     the first map that ever scared me was the ns bast thing, where you walked thru that lil doorway to the big open hive, and one of the gas things explode behind you, with surroundsound and very loud, that can make any man soil himself.

    So I have to say it <b><i>is</i></b> the sound effects (including music) and sudden movements.

    nice idea, but ive always though ns seemed a little too sanitised for me, what with the lack of blood without the aid of server plugins etc. to create true suspense the player must belive they are actually in mortal danger, this in psychological terms is called "suspension of disbelief" and ns lacks that in abundance.

    You really wanna make NS scare the crap out of you every 15 seconds??? Just replace all NS music with the bite.wav. EVERY FIVE SECONDS YOU HEAR IT REALLY LOUD! OMG IS THATA SKULK BEHIND ME!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
