    That's just the problem: we can produce the necessary sounds and music, but the game engine provides us no way to implement this at the moment.

    i got like 220mb of music in my ns music map

    i took the music from morrowind, unreal2, ut2004 demo and also music by kenji kawai (ghost in the shell, avalon, ...)

    all pretty quiet songs, peacefull and stuff

    I thought of another idea that could make NS "scarier":

    make new kharaa models, and make 'em dark-colored (not necessarily black, but mostly, like the fade, but without any bone-colored claws claws), since the fun is over for all lurking aliens once MT has been researched...

    I thought of this 'coz in the Aliens™ universe, the marines have the motion trackers, yet not always are they any good, in the end... why? 'coz aliens are black (or blackish-whatever), and reading on your MT that an alien is 3 meters away is all good, but if ye can't see it, sheeeeaaat, that's pretty scary!...

    That's a good point, too. I'd be a more scared and edgy marine during end-game if MT didn't reveal EXACTLY where the aliens were. Either distance or direction would keep me on my toes, but knowing the exact position makes it too easy.

    Surely it would require lowering the research cost. But hey, weren't they planning something like this for 3.0? Why did they scrap it, I wonder?

    a way they can fix that is to make it so marines come up on the motion tracking and parts of the map come up on motion tracking like they did in avp2 like opening doors came up and moving wires and stuff like that
    that way you would need to stay in conctact with the team to make sure where they are and where possible aliens are and give motion tracking a maximum range that would realy help out

    When you get eaten by an onos. Just imagine what it would be like in real life. You inside a very large critter slowly getting digested by very strong acid. you cant breath. its very warm, infact burning, and very slimy. But you can basicly smell your own flesh disolving, and what smells like puke. You also feel a human skulll in here as well?

    tahts scary enough?

    If you have played unreal 2. its first level is amazingly scary. It still sets me on end everytime I play it. a Single PLayer NS would be very scary. there you could have alot. but being scared of stuff doesn't seem to have to much of a place in a multi player game.

    the way the game is also aimed in team, clan play. for that to happen the game revovles more around teh kamatics, and game play. but still have some good storyline elements to it.

    BUT. here is what you could do. You could always have a map introduction at RR
    like a small video with actors. explaing what happened. and why you are there. with sences of camera fotage. etc. that would put you on end. that way its more like a choice. granted after the second or third view. it will be just about worthless.

    if you realy want to make it scary. use 3D glasses to enhance the game.
    It realy puts in the game. everything popping out at you. you feel like you are IN THE GAME. it freaks out. espicaly when you have a skulk jumping out of your compute monitor at you.

    someone should make the aliens be big spiders and like the hives could be this big wat of webs that has decapitated bodies stuck onto the hive.
