just a public service announcement... stupid RIAA and MPAA are more ubiquitous than I knew... It's very rare anything more than a wrist slap ever occurs. Most people are bright enough to stop (or at least, not get caught again) and in my time in ISP's I've only ever seen RIAA & Co. once want to chase someone down.

Data transmission results in digital copies being made, hence there's no degradation of sound quality. This is compared to the days of tapes with analogue copies, where each copy was successively worse quality than the last. That's the entire reason the music industry doesn't like the idea so much.
You can make 3,000,000 copies, and the 3,000,000th will sound every bit as good as the first.
