Keep in mind not too many servers want to name themselves "NEW PLAYERS WELCOME!! HERE ESP!!" or words to a similar effect because they want to attract as many players as possible.
TRUE TAT CABBIT u basicly said all i didnt say but yea dont put down any player on my clans server if you do it after being told to stop and u do it pretty bad and say some putdowns alot u no youll get baned thats what all servers are supposed to do and i hope they do

Tell you what guys... I'll offer up the clan server I run as a romping ground for anyone that considers themselves elite or elite aspiring. I'll even give rcon access to those elites willing to dedicate enough time playing there so as to keep the newbies out of your way for the most part. I can't promise that the server will be 100% nice to play on 24/7 because the machine itself isn't grand, but at least it will be dedicated to you guys. The reason I say this is I'd like to actually help out with the problem rather than **** and moan about it all the time.
The server name is: Entity One [AoF Clan Server]
You won't be able to save it to favorites because it runs on dynamic ip. Also there are no extras put on the server... just plain vanilla hlds running ns out of the box.

Yeah, randomization is the best bet for even teams in a pub game. Playing on clan servers where 3+ clanners stack on to one team (most often marines from what I see) and proceed to wipe the floor with the opposition. Four out of five pub games where clanners/regulars skill stack ends in an almost humiliating defeat for the other team.
There is a plugin that makes all the team join portals into random team join portals, get that if stacking is a problem(I think it blocks "jointeamone" too.)

Taking on multiple enemies, soloing fades with LMGs, and even taking down a group of marines as a skulk, is LOADS of fun and give me personally a little adrenaline rush. The challenge drives the elite, not so much the bragging rights. The ones that talk trash unprovoked aren't elite, do not get them confused with the truely talented players, they are just some punks that probably can't compete that the level they feel they should, so they take it out on the less skilled. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The first time I have ever found something to agree with FireWater on. I'm impressed. Sadly, those punks make up 80%+ of those construed as 'Elite' because they're vocal.
The true 'Veteran' players will happily drop those 3-4 marines and not say a word. Frankly, anyone outside their friendly server (where they're known and can be seen to be 'playing around') who says 'pwned' or anything of the sort just degrades themselves & makes the better players appear in a bad light.
If you're losing and it's blatant, I feel it's quite alright to concede. That way we can get back into the game and get a decent new round. However conceding for no reason, or because you just got 'pwned' (I love it when you kill someone, and 2 seconds later they quit, I can picture the hissy fit every time) shouldn't be tolerated.
I play for that rush. That moment of dropping the 5th marine as skulk and pausing to check for new targets. Dodging Lerks & Fades to put that final grenade into a hive. Decloaking and slashing the HA to death before the rest of his train-mates can react.
That's the sweet moment that makes NS worthwhile, and that's why I'll happily join a server with better players than me, because you tend to improve playing against superior players.
Those superior players should want to even the teams in the name of getting a better game (and they'll improve by playing against their peers than owning new people) but likewise, it's not down to those players to make the new people get better. That's your problem.

I would rather have the static IP, but my ISP does not support it unless I go with one of the plans that starts at $200 a month (ie. mid-size local business plan). The server DOES have a domain name that is updated 99% of the time. Its easy enough to create a shortcut with this domain name for the ip (my friend says that DNS resolution works fine for him when he connects... doesn't work for me because i'm inside my LAN and it does something mad screwy with my bandwidth).
DN: aofhq.homeip.net
Once I get out of grad school and have a job I should be able to afford the higher costs, but until then this is all I can offer.
Once you have connected you don't have to worry about being disconnected if the ip changes if that's what you're worried about. That is taken care of through ARP re-routing procedures. As far as letting master servers know where I am I do a heartbeat on each mapchange to remind it.

What's wrong with searching every time? Simply sort by server name and go to the E's and you'll find it in a snap. Or you can be lazy and just create the shortcut that assigns the "connect" ip to my server's domain name rather than looking through the server browser.
I'll grant you its not a perfect solution, but the other alternative is to try and get some sort of corporate sponsership for elites only... not sure that would happen... at least not without a sizeable fee and/or membership costs. My solution is free!

No, I meant if you're planning on just having them resolve the DNS rather than use an IP to connect, how will you ensure the name record is up to date? Wouldn't that be just as much work as simply giving them the IP every change?
but dont you like to play with your friends.... thats why i joined a clan so i can play with my friends more. Also when a couple of clanners get together on a server all of the n00bs stack our team. Then all of the middle players who want to show us that they are better join the other team and we usually get a good game going.
I dont usually see a problem with skill stacking except when 2 clans get together and stack 1 side and the other team is all randoms. THe games usually finish quick though without too much pain...
