some hints: - if you get any error with "steam.dll" do a scandisk on the harddrive you have steam on. - if you get an error with "steamui.dll" remove that dll file out of the steam folder and download it again.

steam downloaded jus the patch screwed up or something and i cant rember the excusses it took me 30 mins to get pass email and then it says some crap about its located in a bunch of nubmers GRRRR GOD I HATE STEAM
the error says Steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructureException at 01680447 : Attempt to write to virtuial address 343116817 without appropiate access wrights.
then i click ok(the only option) and then it says
The instruction at "0x10005add" refrenced memory at "0x016971e0" , the memory could not be "read" click ok to terminate program
and then steam stops wrunning WHATS GOING ON??? someone pls help
Just remember kids - steam makes updates a fully automated, easy process. And heck, doesn't it? Fully automated, 100% non-redundant service that won't work for days after each half-significant update <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> . Personally I never had any problems with manual updates, and I'm yet to see any half-decently big steam update go without severe issues. And that is to mention that half-life hasn't had a single major engine update in the entire steam period, while it had quite a few in WON days. I fear the downtimes when or if 1.7 comes out <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Stop complaining and wait till its fixed. Posting about it not going to help. Restarting PC, restarting steam helps solved the problem atleast for me. Also just having some patience helps to.
THe main reason why steam is laggy and not working is because you have thousands of people re logging on all the time. Once people log on and stay on it should be less laggy.
