I was under the impression HL2's multiplayer was counter-strike in the source engine...not like HL-DM.
Although, if it is, I'm sure there'd be a mod pretty quick - playing with physics = fun...especially when launching things long distances is involved.
Although, really, that picking up of the grenade in the E3 demo makes me think that there should be a function on the manipulator to prevent projectiles from hitting you, in any form...like a bubble that keeps all the current atoms around you...around you. So you only can do it for a short amount of time because you'd run out of air otherwise, but you can block all damage or something.
