For those of you who want to know what the difference between the Xbox and PC version of Doom 3, go <a href='http://www.penny-arcade.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=68993&start=250' target='_blank'>here</a> and scroll down a bit. There is a nice comparison that illustrates the reason why you should get the PC version. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Not a chance. You need at <i>least</i> a bajillion gigahertz, and around 1000gb of vram.
(seriously, what is the point in saying "I have x expensive hardware that has zero chance of running anything badly, will it run this game well?" especially if the system requirements have already been stated)

Most likely, your 'bottleneck' would be the processor. Think you could get a faster one? (Unless it's a 64-bit processor, in which case you are set)

and holy crap i just realized something. i bought all the parts to my computer at this computer show a year ago, and i picked out all the parts and they put it together for free (i was gonna but they did it for free so hey) and i picked out an amd 2400 processor, and now that i look at the box to find out if its 64 bit, i realize they gave me an amd 2600. i payed for a 2400. wow lucky me.
and i just tore apart the box, and cant figure out if its a 64 bit processor or not.
You could use a tool like Aida32 to give you information about your CPU type (but I'm not sure if it will tell you if the chip is 64 bit or not). However, it can tell you make and model, which you can then Google.

If it's not you might want to consider spending some more money for a ~3 Ghz processor. It would be a noticeable improvement.

and correction its a 2.09 ghz processor, and no i dont believe its 64 bit. on the amd site its under "AMD Athlon™ XP-M Processors" not "AMD Athlon™ 64 Processors"

I don't know which would be better for your system - a faster processor or more RAM. Hrmm... Oh well. Either one would be good.
my three year old gf3 has all the technology to render the bumpmapping and pretties. thats what they started programming this game on anyway. i'll just have to play at 320x200 like the original game.....
damnit.
othertopic: if you dont have an agp slot than your board is wicked-old and wont do much...
othertopic: the athlon64 2600 was jsut released a week or two ago, if you got a 2600 a year ago, then its an athlonXP. 32-bit but still PLENTY powerful. 256k cache, the power of a pentium4 2.7@533 fsb.
Apparently, it isn't me who is happy, but my little brother who is. Strangely enough, Hong Kong retailers are somewhat blind due to selling VERY gory games to 12 year olds.
Well, he wants to pwn me in DM....here's another one of those "I'm better than you!" teenangsters....ah well, better pwn him with my FPS experience XD

well i enjoy NS at 800x600 im sure D3 wont be too horrid at 320x240... except it probably wont have an option for anything under 1024.... the bastards!
i wonder if ID and Activision have any insider deals with ATI and nVidia trying to trick me into upgrading. ive decided i wont be upgrading my video card anytime soon, after the relatively good performance i saw with MP2 and PoP. (gf3Ti200 oced to ti500)
