At Starbucks, we are trained to ask every customer: "would you like anything to eat today?" or "Can I get you anything else?" or "How about a pastry?"

A customer asked that question is 15% more likely to order a pastry, which kicks their ticket up by $1.50-$3.00. 15% -- they've done the research. McDonalds employees are trained to ask "Would you like to supersize that?" because it increases the chances that the customer will.

Funny thing is though that many people have already decided that they want medium so us saying "Would you like that Large?" usually comes back with a firm no.

While it may work on the people that come in for the "occasional" meal it won't work on regular customers. Or people that know why we do it.

And on the subject of Supersize we never used to sell those meals that much (About one a day)

You'd be surprised how many supersizes are sold per day in Hong Kong....

Most likely 50-70 or something like that per day....and I kid you not, people here in Hong Kong have been doing this since 1995, and I see kids stay fat, but adults apparently not.

Weird eh? I've seen a businessman eat at McDonald's for about 2 years, always ordering a supersize, and he still hasn't gained weight. On top of that, he barely looked like he was the type to exercise. He looked more like the type to remain in a coffin.

None the less, we cant have the Mcdonalds food becoming direct dangerous to your health, I admit it's all about the consumer's responsibility but McD has a responsibility as well

ven: Remember, 6 little words cost nopthing when the person has to wait there for their food any way <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

and if 15% get something b/c of that, then wewt (special when you think of the trafic that SBux and McD's do in an hour <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
