Well, you can't have control over all of them. But what I do know is that games are just one thing : entertainment.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
Apparently, the majority of society do not understand that.
Thankfully, this proves that everyone is not daft enough to not understand that games == entertainment.

Manhunt isnt a game I'd personally want to play though.
The game is rated 18, and shouldn't be sold to under 18's. He was under 18. If his parents were aware he was playing an 18+ game, and didn't stop him, then it's obviously the games fault.

I prevented these 13 year olds from getting the GTA double pack for their X-BOX at my old job lol.
The tried to buy it an I pointed out they had to be 18 so they moaned then went to get mum lol. Mum came over and tried to buy it where I informed her that the game was an 18 certificate product, she looked at me as if I was an idiot for a second until i explained why it had a 18 certificate (examples of prostitution violence and crime in the game) she was quite shocked at hearing this lol.
The whinging teenagers tried to bleet that it was only a game but the mum was having none of this after hearing that you could go up to **** for sex and steal cars in the game.
Parents like that annoy me wth do they think thatr "18" on the game is there for? its the exact same one you would find on a porn movie but she wouldn't dare buy her kids that.
That means South Park, and Aliens.
And Predator. Maybe vampire-based movies too.
See the flaw here?
The parents have watched movies that are really violent (Predator, Alien) and yet, they're okay with that. Yet when it comes to video games....meh.
I really feel like getting that claw hammer of his and start hitting people who don't know that violence != games fault
I mean, ffs. Road Runner? Tom & Jerry? *Sigh*

Tom and Jerry got banned......
Rite I'm gonna go on a killing spree an blame it on "ready steady cook" an see if i can get cooking programs banned.
/me grabs a wooden spoon and a saucepan
A) letting this boy go out with a knife and hammer and allowing him to get acces to them
B) letting him play a 18+ game
C) not parenting him enough on the difference of reality and pixel
Someone should sue them for making products that don`t work properly, could give kids the wrong idea that if you strap a rocket to your back it will explode and not push you along on rollerskates...

Uhh...I'd like to add that I have access to a hammer, a saw, nails, and a really sharp Ginsu knife.
I might go with V-MAN on banning Ready Steady Cook....if I live in the UK that is XD
EDIT : And while we're at it, let's ban all sharp objects and crowbars.
And guns.
Because they are the tools of violence.
Voila! Another hole in their logic.
EDIT THE EDIT : Added emphasis on the crowbar.
Confusion with fantasy and reality, and long-term depression can be the cause.
Trust me, I've been there. The depression gradually turns into anger as a whole, then the subject becomes completely el nuttso.
Whoops. Did I say subject? I mean err....patient. Yep. Patient.
But ususally when they are put on trial, they can't really remember what drives them to kill. Eventually, they turn to other things that made them commit murder/homicide.
What those things are, are dependant on the individual. When it coms to teenagers though, they don't really have any clue, so they stik to the one thing that comes to mind that is violent : Video games.
When it comes to thinking about violent things, and comparing between a movie and video games, video games are usually the first to come to mind because there are rarely any such games like 'Romance games' or something of the rare genre sort. Whereas they will have some sort of gameplay element that spells 'violence' at first thought.
Yep, it's easier to blame games than movies. That's what bites the most.
He loved it. He showed it to me.
I honestly couldn't see the point.
But then he's the kind of person who seems to find things like ogrish arousing or something. I find it frankly sickening
And to anyone who says it is the game's fault, learn to control your kids. It's your fault, not the game's.
I have GTA3 and GTA:Vice City. I am yet to go on a mass rampage slaughtering everyone I see, because my parents realise the value of discipline(i still don't like my parents though )
[EDIT:]Just because a game is rated 18, doesn't mean t deserves the rating. Manhunt does, but Perfect Dark was an 18.
When my mum asked a shop person why it was an 18, he said it contained excessive violence, gore and swearing.
After convincing her to let me buy it, and playing it through, i played it thorugh a second time, with the swear filter on.
Only one sentence was silenced, in which he said 'damn it man.'
Sounds like it's going to turn a child into a delinquent by hearing that.
Heh, I don't see why people blame video games for being violent, just becaus someone gets mad and does the whole stabby-death routine on someone and they HAPPENED to play DOOM when they were 5! and havn't touched a game since makes them an evil 'Brain washed gamer that was reenacting doom'. I dunno what the people that do THIS sorta stuff are on but it certainly isn't healthy nor productive...
On a side note, I've became more peaceful since I got my video games and computer ^_^

One of the SA goons injected Cola into his bloodstream (or so he says) and hasn't posted for a very long time. I say we ban Cola to prevent this from happening again!
I, like many others here I'm sure, have played violent video games for years (just turned 18 a month ago) and never had any murderous thoughts (well, maybe for my little brother, but who doesn't? ).
At least someone in that article (the spokesman) has some common sense.
EDIT: Just looked at my post. Too much damn parentheses!

But everyone knows that the daily mail is a load of bollocks.
They banned tom & jerry? since when?
I can understand Wile E Coyote + Roadrunner, but Tom & jerry? thats just absurd
[EDIT:]V-Man, that is truly Evil, and i like it!.
Someone wouldn't let me buy The sims for christs sake just because it was rated 15+
Thank god I don't live in Germany. I mean, what kind of retard replaces Dinosaurs with robots in Turok: Dinosaur hunter.
They are already extinct, it's not like you're going to go massacring dinosaurs are you
In other words she's just randomly spouting rubbish cos people like to blame things.
Someone who is screwed up enough to use a hammer on someone would do it whether they watched 18+ films or my little pony... in fact they 18+ stuff they watched probably saved loads of pink horses getting beaten to death too!
Idiots like that don't deserve a vote/opinion/the right to be a parent

what he said...Manhunt is sick, even more sick it is that those parents let that 17 year old kid play such games....and EVEN more sick it is that a kid goes harrassing REAL people because he saw it in a sick game...
just ehm sick..
STOP! HAMMER TIME!
If a kid like that is triggered by games it needed help anyway. Not really cool to blame it on a game that's 18+ ( again crappy parenting )

They don't? They were showing Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck classic animations on BBC1 nearly every saturday or sunday morning up until a month or so ago. I remember some Road Runner in there, too.
They're not banned at all (to whoever said that) just unscheduled. I assume it's just because the ones they were showing/had rights to show were extremely overplayed or something. Hell, I remember seeing the same ones quite a few times within a month's timespan. Too often to get much enjoyment out of them after a while.
But then again, with the tripe they tend to put on now...rerun after rerun of WB classics doesn't really seem all that bad...
Though I do miss the old cartoon time on Sunday afternoons of yesteryear...
Some day...
