Make sure when you finish, the box that says "who are not affiliated with the two main political parties" is unchecked for more accurate results.

Also, note I start at two: That is because the #1. canidate is their perfect theoritical canidate, aka themselves.

My stance on abortion always throws these things off, but it’s fairly accurate none the less.

I felt somewhat restricted by this quiz. For example, in the "illicit drug laws" question, I would've like to see the answer choices be checkboxes instead of a radio button. That way I'd be able to mark both "increase laws and penalties" and the "prevent/reduce through education/counseling" option.

Neither "main" candidate got a high percentage score with me, but Kerry got around 2.5 times what Bush got.

I'm only mildly surprised that the Green Party matched so well, otherwise, no shockers.
I'm still not going to vote though, because my vote for the Green party would count for nothing when one of the 2 major parties win the state, sending all of our electoral votes to Kerry (more than likely).

It seems I have little in common with most candiates with the Libertarians topping the ranks at 60%. The rest are 50% or below. I guess the reason is that many of the questions are quite blanketed leading to choose the third option. O'well, at least Dave Barry should still be running.

Its a nice idea, but if I were in say, Bush's shoes, I'd say I'd change everything that went wrong the first four years and appease to the masses, but do what I really want when I gain presidency. the problem is this is based on what they say and not what they do. (Nice link however)

if a party gets some 5% of the vote, then it gets a nice chunk of change from the federal government for next election's campaigning. There's some incentive for you.

No surprise...I found out recently how closely aligned I was with the Libertarian Party, much to my surprise. However, I'll still be voting for Bush this election, since it's too close of an election to have "protest votes."

I'm shocked I agree at all w/ the Socialist party .

No, thats not true really. Face it man, we live in a country where the system has been designed so that only two specific parties could ever have a real chance of winning. Neither of those parties are going to remedy the situation (preferential voting, the elimination of the god awfull electoral system, ect.) because it works in their favor.

So even if I did vote for Cobb, and he gets a little more money because of it, my vote is still essentially wasted.

Not particularly surprising. With the full list of candidates, Dean topped the list. I still think that he got a bum deal. He was far more moderate than his opponents, both Democratic and Republican, painted him to be. Combined with the media feeding frenzy about his "temper" and it just killed him.

In spite of my Libertarian leanings, I'll probably vote Kerry. I live in a battleground state and since my vote will count for something, a protest vote isn't a viable option. I like a lot of what Kerry stands for with the notable exception of his health care plan, but I do see the merits of a government health care system even if I'm not jumping on board to support it.

I'm not surprised that Bush and Peroutka are at the bottom. The Constitution Party just comes off as a group of ultra-conservative, religious Republicans and Bush is Bush. I think that he's botched the last four years enough to get voted out of office.

interesting. I would have thought I would be closer to libertarians than the Democrats. in any case it just shows that most of the candidates don't really have a platform that i like. *sigh* i don't really want to vote for bush either.

They are, but thats beside the point. So mabey designed was the wrong word, since the electoral system wasn't designed for that, thats mearly the only purpose it serves nowadays. Can you honestly say you believe annother third party will win in the forseeable futrue? I mean christ, that was 1860, nearly 150 years ago, back before women could vote and black people were free, and it only ever happened once. Until our system is replaced by one that makes sense 3rd party votes will continue to be considered "wasted" or "protest" votes.

And you know what? I think I will vote, if only so that after the election people can't use that stupid "you didn't vote so you have no right to complain" line. I think I'll cast my vote for Candidate Zero, he has as much chance of winning as Cobb anyways.

Aw...noboby really shares my views (67% is my best?) Though I didn't want a president who sided with or opposed with the ACLU and NAACP. What about one who simply ignores? Oppose is a strong word. And I'm not really a socialist.

Oh well, I was gonna vote Nader anyways.

Wow, no one really carries my views... I always thought of myself as someone who really doesn't like either party, but leans a little to the right.

    Interesting, to say the least.

edit: Surprisingly, I agree with most of the Libertarian views, except for its views on the war on Iraq, which I support.

I can't really say I can forsee into the future.

You never know, a 3rd party could become popular (libertarian party is picking up the pace a bit) but first it takes people like yourself to toss the mindset that electing a 3rd party is impossible.

The first step of defeat is admitting it to yourself that you are defeated.

Wow just immagine what could happen if this was how people really voted for president. We would actually have a third party....YAH!!!!!

I knew I hated bush, but I didn't thik I hated him enough to give him only a 12% likly hood of actually voting for him, that's actually less than I expected of myself.

Lol, I appearently tolorate Kerry....LOL!!! Boy does that one suprise me. I almost hate him as much as bush but yet I actually have a higher chance of voting for him over the consitution party's canadate...the party I was tossing a coin over (it was between green (Nader) and the Constitution Party in my mind but I guess i'll just have to go with the other green (Cobb) on this one (The U.S. has too many green parties we have like 4 (we even have a Nazi Green party (I looked them up on the internet)).

Just for the sake of curiousity, which issues did you rate as very/unimportant to get similar rankings for all of the dems + Nader and Cobb?

I just left them all at 'moderate'.

Actually I heard a great idea once - that we should replace voting machines with these polls. That way you'd eliminate the morons that vote X because they think they're X too (Friend of mine's parents always vote republican. They won't have any freaking clue who they're voting for but they vote them because they have an 'R' next to their name)

Heh...yeah this test doesn't offer you much choice; I got Kerry for christ sake, and I absolutely hate him. I hate Bush too, I'm rather disillusioned now, I used to look at all the loser junkies in my high school and think they'd never amount to anything -- now I know they might end up becoming president one day. What the hell is this country coming to when two potheads (although I think Bush got into more hardcore stuff) are our only options for president? It's bad enough that Bush has had his brains addled so much that he can barely deliver a comprehensible speech, but Kerry is definitely worse because he's so screwed up that he'll go do something absurd like appear on MTV's "Rock the Vote" and admit to having smoked marijuana and pretend he's "cool" for doing so. Who does he think is going to win this election for him? A bunch of dumb punks on MTV or adults who are actually concerned with what he'll do as president instead of how many brain cells he has killed. I wish Lieberman would win...too bad most people (like those MTV brats) are too concerned with their image as a "liberal" to hear what he has to say; they just didn't like this: "I have a reputation for giving unpopular answers," said Joe Lieberman. "I never used marijuana. Sorry!".
