That last picture [the bomb]... notice the AWP lying on flat ground, where there is no flat ground <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> I would have thought that would be one of the first things they'd fix...

The graphics look... appealing. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'll definitely play it a bit, because it looks so sexy, and looks like it will feel sexy.. but it's still the same game.

Edit: I was slow on the post. I meant, of course, this picture. <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/uploads//post-10-1092543884.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/up...-1092543884.jpg</a>

Keep in mind this was on a direct x 8 card. And even there it was just stunning, the screenies are like, 40% of the real quality. I can't wait for my Radeon 9800 now :\

that sentence didn't make much sense, but anyway, they could have rounded the corners a bit. that arch in the smoke pictures is pretty jaggy too...

They let me use my machine for comparison factor but only for a couple minutes.

Heres a general idea of waht you can expect performance wise. I have a 2700+ XP @2.2ghz, 512 DDR, GF4 Ti4200 128DDR. Just running around I got 100fps constantly, although with alot on the screen I dipped to 45~. That shall change with the radeon but I'd say thats still pretty good

Nononono the awp isn't laying flat. I tossed it to try and show that the guns bounce and flop around when thrown. I tossed it at a wall and it landed on the buttstock (I took the ss) then it fell over. (look at the shadow)

As long as they physics aren't as exaggerated as Deus Ex: Invisible War. I had a crapload of fun tossing bodies 70-80 feet in the air, while flaming. And running around in Cairo I killed so many people by bouncing flaming barrels into them. Run into a box and it flew across the room...

As long as HL2 physics are realistic, like they sound to be from this thread, that's good <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It does make sense. I'm pointing out that most real-life buildings look blocky.

And CWAG just said that there were no jaggies in-game, its (I would guess) because of image compression.

Looks very secks indeed, although I need some screenees of the flashbang, and on a DX9.0 card...

Um... wouldn't that just be a white screen?
  • usernameusername Join Date: 2004-06-22 Member: 29473Members
jpeg compression doesn't magically make corners look sharper, they are clearly 90 degree corners. just one block.

i still don't think that sentence made sense... "On the average, BUILDINGS are blocky"?

    A DX9 white screen, foo'.

    On the average,
Most of the time/The majority of the time...

    BUILDINGS
    Buildings...

    are blocky
    Are rectangular.

    So we get:

Most of the time, buildings are rectangular.

    EDIT for Tommy: Probably not <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I think he meant that buildings in real life are blocky, so they should be in-game. This confusion could've been avoided if he had emphasized the ARE rather than BUILDINGS.
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
"On average, in real life buildings are blocky."

    Solved, once and for all.

Now lets get back to the CS:S... anybody have any gameplay movies?

Nope. You know when you stare into the sun you see "artifacts" of your surroundings? Yep. Theres that effect after the white flash that lasts 2-3 seconds. And your "ears" ring.
  • usernameusername Join Date: 2004-06-22 Member: 29473Members
meh, they still couldnt have added a little bevel to the edges. no buildings have corners that sharp.

his sentence should have been "on average, buildings are blocky" or "the average building is blocky," or something... sorry im bitching.

Corners aren't "jaggies". I thought you were talking about actual jaggies.

Holy crap! I think the flashlights emit LSD...

And i agree that the edges of things should have just a tiny bevel, just something to make it not so "if you fall against this corner, you're going to get cut in half". Apart from that, I love it. Any videos??

Oh, funny story. Im not sure if it was a bug but I tossed a grenade at the middle bottleneck in Dust and it didnt kill any CTs, however a small aluminum can flew from the blast, smacked a CT in the head and he died. It said "So and so received -119 damage from World."

Ryo-Ohki, Scythe and I went to the le old cybar cafe as well, It was impressive but its still cs and the game play is still boring as hell. Atleast they upgraded the p90s damage but, that really anoyed me. In real life the p90 can almost saw you in half O_O.
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
Huh? In *real life*? CS Isn't realistic <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Damage, health, etc, none of that is even remotely realistic... The guns should vary in accuracy, speed, and weight, not "How many clips you have to put into a guy to take 76/100 health from him".. Bah.

But gameplay > realism, right? Wait.. this is CS... nevermind, then.

It looks pretty, feels pretty, but it's still the same old mucky game.
