Yes It's True
I know that the last shakeup for this issue made the topic lock, but please dont lock this topic and please dont think I'm some crazy fool and surely, dont insult Nexus. I talked with him afterwards and he was pretty ashamed, and in frustration deleted Gendo. I said that I would at least like to see the level.
So, I jump in, and lo and behold of course it is riddled with problems. R-Speeds are bad in some areas, bad texturing everywhere you look, problems with functions like the elevator, I mean it was just a mess. But, there is something I noticed about the level that caught my eye.
Creativity. Inspiration. Mainly the creativity is what made me gawk. He has some of the best ideas I have ever seen before, and it was a shame to see that it was put together like this. So, I ask him if he plans on fixing it up and just deleting the decompiled areas and just making it fresh. The only decompiles he put in there are 2 arches which are swiftly deleted.
So, when he says he deleted it, I asked for at least an RMF version of some sort, and he decompiles his map to get the RMF, and he gives it to me. I say I'll take a look at it and look from problems. Its short, for one, and two bad texturing everwhere. But there is one, huge, huge, problem.
Clipping. He has brushes clipping into other brushes EVERYWHERE. Little brushes that dont even need to be placed there are clipped inbetween walls, I mean, everything is just a huge mess. So then I look around some more and I realize he has some really, really good ideas for a level. I could play this. We could fix this.
So I inform him that if he would allow me, could I fix the map, re-texture it, make it longer, weed out the problems, and then put it out as a co-release? His idea of the map and all of its original detail, and I would be responsible for getting it to run, technical know-hows, and expanding it. He said it was fine with him, and I spent the next 15 minutes lecturing him on how decompiling is bad, its horrible, and he should stop. He has enough talent already. This map is so well thought out, its just poorly put together.
I didn't want to see this thing die at all. I looked at it and thought it would be a great combat map, so here is what I have done so far:
- Fixed about 60% of all clipping problems
- Put textures in propper places
- Reduced R-Speeds heavily
- Fixed comm chair problem
- Have come up with ways to expand the level
Things I still need to do are:
- Find and delete all clipping and odd brushes
- Re-Texture entire level correctly
- Expand
- Fix elevator problems
- Add vents, ducts, shortcuts, etc...
At this point I am almost sucessful in getting rid of those clipping brushes. When this map comes out I guarentee you will like it. Nexus has some of the best ideas I have seen for a Natural Selection map so far and I want to see those ideas become a reality. Maybe you might feel more comfortable knowing yours truely is behind the wheel, maybe not. All I know is that I want to see this thing come out with minimal problems and be a fun map to play.
Also, sorry if Nexus doesnt have perfect english skills. What foreigner does? If you live in Russia, of course you arent going to speak perfect english if you moved to, say, Britian or America. But give the guy a break on his speech. Sure it sounds tacky at times but Im trying to get him to work on that as well.
This map should have release somewhere in the next month or two, depending on how busy I am. If I have free time quite a bit, hey, it could come out in a few weeks. Just try and give some support here, Im dying to get this thing out. Until I get it done, I have ceased work on my own CO map to get this one in production and out in the playable world. I know that my clan server will put it into rotation since I was a part of its development, and I plan on making this thing fun for everyone and something for Nexus and I to be proud of.
Let's give it a shot.

EDIT: Clipping brushes eliminated up to 85%
Then I remember decompiling f***s up the brushes and had to start over again
In a good way though !
decompiling is like crack... once you start it's hard to break, yet it's just as lethal (to your reputation)

I can learn to take a liking to something that looks like it would be fun to play in. I walked around, and while I was taken aback by some of the problems, I also thought "You know, I would have fun camping here" or "I'd like to charge up from this location" or "this would be a great place to gas or rocket people" or "this hallways makes good cover for marines."
Frankly I could have fun in it, and I think others could too. It has good ideas, of course. Some things need work, yes, but whos map doesnt need a little touch up? That is why you are touching up on Bast. Everything needs a fine tune-up, and I just want to help get some kids map into the loop and finished and have it so that its enjoyable. You dont have to like it, but does that mean you have to necessarily call it a bad map? Just keep your mouth shut if you dont like it and dont have anything constructive to add.
It's best for him to learn some proper english and register a new account to make a clean start.
Seriously, he doesn't deserve ANY respect, unless he somehow improves without using that freaking decompiler ever again...
This situation has been repeating forever since he joined the forums... but whatever you want, I guess.
Also... unspoken rules? That's stealing... and that's illegal...
Oh, btw, don't think you're the only one who doesn't have english as a native language...

Mendasp fights with bulls..
I meant, he's spanish. I'm dutch. There a lots of other people from all over the world on these boards. But most of them have pretty good english knowledge.
Ive been quite on this subject up til now, but I feel I must reply. Jezpuh has it right. Enoughs enough......This man cant be trusted.
If hes being honest about turning over a new leaf, let him re-register with a new name. Start fresh. Any posts or maps by him just leaves me with a baaaad feeling.
Shut up. For once, view our members as people, and not things. To you guys, hes a decompiling machine who screws everyone over and then laughs at you in the end. I think of him as a confused Swedish person with poor English skills and ultimately is still quite new to mapping. I go over his stuff and I see things that I didnt think I would ever see.
But yes Mendasp, you are being an a$$. You just stroll into the room and say "This map sucks, give it up!" No, I'm not giving it up. I deleted the two decompiled arches. Now, did he run into the level and steal an entire room? No. He decompiled two arches. Easy to fix. Delete. Done, like they never existed. This leaves the rest of the level, newly thought-out and created.
Sure, I dont agree with decompiling. I dont like what he did and I realise he overstepped his boundries, but do I hate him for it? No. Hes a person, like you and me, a confused person to put into the mix. Simply making the situation worse by coming into my thread and throwing this kind of crap around isnt going to stand. You dont like it, keep it to yourself. Go somewhere else and babble and complain. Make your own "Hate Nexus" thread and just run rampant with flames. But not here, dont do it here. I, nor the admins or mods, have the patience to babysit a possible flame war because a few people dont like what I am doing, nor do they like Nexus or anything about him. Drop it. I dont have time for it. No one else should waste any second of their life reading more crap you guys throw up. You want people to look at your insults, make your own damn topic.
And just because you are good with English as a non-native English speaker, doesnt mean everyone is going to have the same english-learning ability as you. You might do well at it, but others might struggle. I know if I tried speaking my Spanish I would be laughed at. Which is why I learn and strive to get better at it. But seriously, attacking his language skills is one sure-fire way to make yourself look like a jackass, and a horrible one to boot. Drop it.
nexus is lucky he got as many chances as he did before everyone drew the line and said leave. I would have only given him 2. You know its a law in the US if you commit the same crime 3 times, its life in jail. Doesn't matter the crime, if its a repeated offense of the same thing, your done. Arrested for grand theft auto 3 times, done. Stealing 3 times, done. Nexus was caught stealing 5 times at least. Why should I bother, or anyone, take him with any bit of respect when he has shown none to us all, and ignored us. You can say, oh, he's a person, go tell him that we are ppl too and if he doesn't want us to yell at him, he should treat us with a lil bit of respect.
We did see him as a nice forum member. We forgave him 4 times. We tried to help him. But if you offer a person help every time and then find out he simply ignored it and decompiled it, you're starting to think.. He obviously doesn't need your help. Cause if he did, he'd stop decompiling. We tried to help him, don't say we didn't. Just look in older threads wich got locked. We offered him help. But once again, he has proven himself untrustworthy by breaking another promiss.
It doesn't matter what he decompiled, for all I know it was a floor (wich it wasn,t - he decompiled more). It still counts.
I can't understand why people still try to help him. It's his own problem now. We tried to help him. We offered him good help at the first wich he simply ignored. He doesn't deserve any more help.
