    Considering 90% of these mods will die, I find watching in-development mods to be very fruitless, especialy for a game that's not even released. That said, the only mods I'd put trust in would be the 'ports', svencoop, DOD, etc. but frankly I don't see those mods offering anything new in an HL2 port that would be worth more time then I spend on them now, which is none.

    Stalingrad - been there done that. Besides, what's a stalingrad map? Looks just like every other map in a WW2 game - blown up buildings, craters, and oh, it's Russia. GIVE IT SNOW! NOW ITS A NEW GAME! WEEE RERELEASE!



    I'm talking about REAL features. A **** tweak to recreate a quote "Epic battle" which features nothing but lots of camping **** in buildings in snow and calling it a new feature is a joke.


    Besides, Stalingrad was a siege, not a massive onslaught (well there was but this isn't an Omaha Beach type thing), what will it do, change the timelimit to 7 months or something, and recreate real starving peasant action?


    Sorry I just really despise WW2 games since they're all the same thing.

    For me, its <a href='http://www.entropymod.com' target='_blank'>Entropy, a MMOFPSRPG,</a> that is like a hyper-futuristic Grand Theft Auto 3 in a MMO world. The entire idea of gameplay has already been worked out, and the models aren't half bad either.

    Is that singleplayer? If so, it sounds really unique and neat. If not, it'll collapse into **** and chaos. Everything suggests 'players will organize and make gangs... coordinate and purchase gear...' etc. but these guys need to open their eyes - no one wants to be someone ELSES ****, and no one wants to **** around with politics when they can buy a pistol run around and kill as many people as they can, respawn and do it again.


    EDIT: Ah, a singleplayer is planned... I suppose this might work, but considering HL2 is like, what, 64 players max? Hardly 'MMO'. With the release and counterstrike source, and all that overhyped fluff, I'm pretty sure this mod won't be able to survive very long, what with the complexity and learning curve of it. Steam makes it easy for lamers to find such games and they'll find ways to crash them. Pity.

    I don't expect many mods that are pre-planned to be much good, let alone the ports...

    But give it 6 months after HL2 comes out, and there should be some decent mods popping up to take the spotlight for a while. The real problem with most mods is not the actual mod itself, but it's popularity. There are quite a few mods out there that are now in the ashes [and have been for quite a while] even though they would be very good playing... For some reason [and for the life of me I can't figure out why or how] some mods and games have had some good popularity, then burned out quickly, and some mods and games like CS and BF are still being played to high heaven. I have no idea what dictates ongoing poularity. Gah.

    *With that said, EEK, I would calm the hell down and leave this thread indefinitely, if I were you.*

    neat idea its like a modern day shooter but there is also a commander and a resource system so its kinda like natural selection its one of the more original mods for hl2
