Rub salt on, that will soothe the pain a bit.

I like it when they are putting the shots in, you can feel the needle proding the inside of the flesh bed on the bottom of the toe...

Just try to sleep it off akara, and don't take off the bandages until tomorrow... You should feel much better then. If you really can't stand it, pretty much any painkiller will help (except maby ibeprophen or however its spelled, due to the fact that it is ment to bring down swelling, and your problem is more wildly firing nerve responses)...

Went to the doctor for an ingrown toenail? Maybe I haven't reached the final ingrown toenail boss yet, but I usually take care of them with nail clippers and lots of painful digging.

Try Tramal or Naklofen. But just one of either, lol. I think they can't be bought without a prescription anyway. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My family on my father's side has a genetic problem with ingrown toenails. The condition is so bad every single member of them, including myself has had at least one of the nails on their big toes removed. In my case both.
Problems were with the second one when they found out what I'd inherited from my mothers side that's equally odd... a nerve that runs through the body that's totally immune to anaesthetisation.
I took the maximum dose they could get of the local anaesthetic (having a giant needle stuck in my foot didn't make me love them any better ^^; ) and yet that one nerve let me feel the full pain of the operation from start to finish. I wish they'd just used a general and knocked me out or something. The pain burned for several days afterwards with a friendly bang off stuff to remind me of it while it was still bandaged later on =P

Cut the toe off, it doesn't hurt anymore. Simple.

I've had this done *4* times because it wouldn't go away. I felt like passing out the first time, but I got enough practice to tolerate it.
  • POOP_AkiraPOOP_Akira Join Date: 2003-11-23 Member: 23468Members
This is the second time for me, the first time I didnt feel anything, and i never even really noticed the anaesthetic had worn off until the next day.

I had this done 4 times too. I went to a pediatrist though so my toes stayed numb for almost 24 hours.

My cousin had an ingrowing toe-nail when he joined
the Navy. They said that either he let them handle it
or he would fail the 8 weeks training right there on the spot....
they ripped it out. Quite literally *ripped* it out.

I saw his toe a few days after and it looked like a plum.
(Except it was quite a bloody plum.)

Ah that aint pain, try facing a ditch on a dirtbike going 45mph after jumping the road, without the bike <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I did that, broke my ankle 3 spots and fractures everywhere, basicly shattered my ankle. I still walk with a limp from that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    aiya, ingrown toenails.
after the 2rd visit for the same side of the toe, my podiatrist put a dose of acid on the toe so that the nail wouldn't grow back sideways. It did anyway, so the next time he put triple the acid!! my toe was totally nuked!!

Does anyone else laugh when they get hurt? Like broken bones, banging your shin really hard against something, burns on your skin, etc? Or am I just weird.....

That's probably a better thing to do than just curse and swear like most people when they're hurt.

Anyway, I've had an ingrown nail before. Luckily it wasn't too bad, just had to work some cotton on top of the quick and kept weight off of the toe.

EDIT: Check it out, avatar cloning action!

I had one, and I had to deal wiht it myself.

No anaesthetics. No painkillers. No acid.

Just plain ol' me and the nail cutters. You know, those specialized ones for ingrowns?
So yeah, I had to take it like a man and go through grueling pain.

The next day, I felt no pain XD

In fact, I have just checked my toenail, and it still hasn't come back :/

You think you're weird? I say ouch when I break things or fumble. You get some really weird looks if you drop a half eaten orange on the floor and go "ouch!"

From what I hear is that major second degree burns are extremely painful due to the fact that the nerve endings have not been severed off yet. Also, I would imagine going through childbirth is painful as well, because it is a perpetual motion of cramping pain, much like the ones you would get whenever a stomach ache occurs, but including back pain and all sorts of others. Mouth pain is terribly painful, from what I hear it is one of the most painful things to have to go through, for the nerve endings are located right near the brain. Also, I would imagine other forms of tortures are even more painful. Finally, what can sometimes be deemed the most painful of all is mental pain. There are some people out there who have to go through torrents of mental processes that will drive their mind crazy.

Personally, I believe being skinned alive then having your fingers chopped off slowly, while specialists are keeping you alive, and having your limbs severed aftewards, while your eyes are being gouged out; and finally, having your bowels removed while they pour gasoline on your head while at the same time lighting you on fire and shoving your body up through the rectum on a pole much like the babylonians would do whilst throwing you in a pool of Brazilian pirranas, would be the most painful experience of all.
