Anyways, I hear Tribes Vengeance isn't much like Tribes 2. It's more like Tribes 1, but it's been optimized and simplified a bit. Which isn't a bad thing, to me. I was ready for a change anyways. Necro, though, he'll be the first to start moaning because you can't disc mines anymore (whatever discing a mine was in the old games). <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(He also doesn't like the idea of a grappling hook, even though it has ammo)

Tribes was the first online, mouse-based game I ever played and it also introduced me to WSAD. It's still one of my favourite games, and I wanted to weep when I played Tribes 2. It sucked.
Discing mines was shooting them with the Stormhammer to blow them up so they didn't kill you. And uh...why does Tribes need a grappling hook? IT HAS JETPACKS.
If you can't think of any reason to have a grappling hook, you haven't played enough Tribes.
I for one am happy with Tribes 1 mechanics. Like I said before, I wouldn't mind if they just updated the graphics and added a gun or something. It would still be just as good of a game.
For one, you're playing inside a massive box. Yes, the flight ceiling is back, and more painful then ever. In fact, it's back so bad, it's stupid. You cannot leave out of bounds. Ever.
You can also grapple to players and vehicles. I don't think the engine was really designed for this though, because when you do it, you stutter and jolt around a lot, and your grapple line seems to go through the object and kinda stick out in wierd places.

LoL! Disk mining was throwing a mine at your enemy then shooting it with your disk to make it explode. A hard to pull off, one hit kill, skill shot.
This sounds like alot of fun, I love T1 and have been waiting for another good Tribes game since it. That flightceiling though.... that sounds really really stupid.
Imagine throwing a grenade in T:V without being able to 'charge up' the throw, and then get an MA shot on your enemy with the Stormhammer the same moment the grenade hits him and you have an idea what minedisking was like. Of course, this skill was a lot easier when Heavy Armors weren't juggernauts of doom like they are in T:V and actually had limited movement.

That makes me question the purpose of the speed pack.
I just tryed to re-install Tribes 2... And it won't let me... Because the fileplanet T2 page is gone... And I have my account still...
:edit: n/m... the installer dislikes Firefox I guess... I set my browser to IE and yea, it's installing now.
