Pity I haven't almost finished that section but yes, the triangle method does kickass. My tip would be to fiddle around with the sizes of the 'squares' to give it more of an organic feel.
Here are some screenshots of the only part of this Hive that is almost ready. You can probably make out the pipes at the top from which Aliens can drop in on any ninja PGs or sieges. That pipe continues out into the next room, where a bridge can be welded across to reach a ladder that gives on foot access along the top of the pipes.
Things that will be added: - Some sort of partition around the pipes above the doorway. - A custom holo texture (like Bast's readyroom) in front of the blue screen with readouts of the Generator power.

I <i>think</i> I know what you're saying. It was pretty lazy texturing to be honest. I've just made the door round the corner static so I can allow myself a bit more brushwork to make the panel lighting a bit nicer.
My main gripe with the pictures here is that the lighting seems a bit whishy washy, with no real contrast in colour or tone to speak of. I was considering changing the orange light strip back to white as it was before, or possible an off-white yellow.
Just round the corner to the right is the infested side of the half open (but impassable) doors which is a lot moodier in lighting. I wanted to keep this side a bit lighter as an incentive (or to take out a disincentive) to build their sieges/relocs/PGs there. In addition to the lighting it has space for a few buildings but Aliens can attack from 3 sides: coming from either side of the pipe tunnel or from behind the POV in the screenshots.
Tomorrow I'll aim to finish the infested section on the other side of the static doors.

Any criticism welcome, although you can't tell much about the layout from the pics, so I guess crit on style if you will. Bonus marks if you spot the sinister apparition that I got when texturing some infestation.
