Now this looks good, I gotta say, having the marines as predators would be very cool, But the head does look a little thin. The skin and hair look really good though. You must make this into a full model pack!

Kevin Peter Hall played Predator in both of the first movies, last I checked he was a stuntman/actor and not a basketball player. He did Chewbacca, aswell. Then died in '92 I think.

Yautja are reptilian.
Contrary to what AvP [good God almighty *shudder* that director's a... foul word that'll only be censored] says, Xenomorphs are not.
The boots im guessing are just temporarily there. . .i sure he knows that yautja dont wear boots. . .and Im glad to see someont else who knows them as yautja
that's looks very very nice tho i think you should make it a bit more detailed and 'dressed', a fishnet is so ... not enough

NO! its a NET! its NOT his scales ITS F***ing NET!!! and yeah some more cloth on him maybe.. tarzan like pants. and someone was right about the dirtier armor.
Hardly low-tech. Their repilian natures mean their cold blood requires constant heat. That webbing can keep them warm enough to function in arctic climates -despite- their cold blood.
It works like the defrosting mesh in rear windshields. I imagine it's powered by the thing that goes *boom* when they lose [stupid worthless AvP].
I would think it should be similar to the constricting net seen in AvP and Predator 2 [you can't cut it], but it always seems to be poorly portrayed in comics and movies.
And what the hell were Yautja doing in the arctic, anyway? They like -hot- climates. They're bloody jungle lizards!
The metal that they use is called Dlex! Nearly indestructable and resistant to Xenomorph acids. They make most everything they use out of dlex, it can be flexible or hard, too.
So i'm guessing their mesh has no reason not to be made of dlex.
That would depend on its conductive/resistant properties. Just the same as we don't make everything out of just one kind of metal because there are so many different applications we need it for.
As much as I detest AvP, you'll note some of the Yautja metal in it melts [wrist blades, chest plates, masks], but some doesn't [spears, whirly blade things].
hmm, maybe it was warm in the arctic when they were here? or everyone sometimes does things he doesnt like, maybe them too. for some freaky reason. im gonna see the avp movie tomorrow jyay
very nice skin. i like a lot. but for what? i mean, for what game or thing?
in the arctic they could have their little hunt without too much human attraction, only a few to give the chest busters some hosts, at least thats how i think of it, i try to make the best out of that movie as i can
Im a huge Predator fan, and i too refer to them as the youtja. There are a few things wrong with the model and skin: 1. As said before, the face is too narrow. It would be impossible to have that narrow a mask, because of the mandibles behind, they would be sticking out. Either that, or sombody needs a palet expander. 2. The head is too small. No way the hands can be that big, and the head that small. 3. No plasma cannon. Whats a predator without his plasma cannon? 4. Not enough armor. Maybe enough armor for a light marine, but ill get into that later. 5. no thigh armor. 6. no shin armor. 7. The place where the wristblades comes out needs to be bigger, or the blades smaller. 8. needs a bit more hair.
The predators in the separate movies differ slightly, but are basically the same. basically.
Predator 2. Note: i heard this movie really screwed up the predator bad. thats just what i heard, the only predator movie i didnt see.
Note: these are pictures of figures made by mcfarlane, the dude who made spawn. But if anybody knows anything about Mcfarlane toys, its that they make extremely high detailed figures.
Im not sure what you and the modeler are shooting for, but it seems the origional predator.
I've got a few ideas for an avp pack if your modeler cares to ask me. Also, i know youre not making the model, but show him these suggestions. The model looks excellent though.
Edit- Please pardon me if i have a few text errors.

Thnx for the crits people, al get the modeler to look at this thread since i didnt model or plan to edit the model. I think he is using it for a pred mod or summit, i dunno. I just wanted to skin it at the time.
