I have seen nothing to suggest the game doesn't suck so far. Here is a brief summary of what happened.
-I log in -I meet some NS forumites by sheer chance -One of us (thansal) knows what we are doing and leads us to the newbie mission -The mission is camped to hell because the enemys won't spawn unless the room is empty.... and people keep hanging around INSIDE the room waiting for the baddies to spawn -We give up and go to the city (I crash at this point) -We (well, I) get all confused because our appartments are miles appart and there is NO EASY WAY to get ANYWHERE -We finally all get together and head to the sewers (I crash once on the way) -We stand around stabbing rats for a bit, get bored and head to the 2nd level of sewers where the baddies are harder -One of our team dies and we guard his pack til he gets back (things actually start looking FUN at this point) -One of our team has to go -I die -I crash before I can respawn -I log back in and am unable to communicate with anyone on my buddies list, and can hear the team chat of someone called "wraith", even though the menu says i am not in a team. He can't seem to hear me. -With no-one else around and my equipment gone, I wander aimlessly looking for a weapon shop -I find one and can only afford the cheapest knife -I wander aimlessly some more looking for the sewers (in case you hadn't noticed, there is an awful lot of wandering aimlessly in this game) -I find the wrong set of sewers and am confronted by a hobo with an uzi -I run away -I wander aimlessly some more -I stumble across my faction's HQ, and think "Hey, I can get a mission and earn some money!" -I wander around talking to extremely stupid and unhelpful (not to mention ugly) npcs, and find that I need to be "mission level 10" to do a mission. Naturally I have no idea what this means since the game never told me -I wander some more -I crash again -I give up and quit -I commit seppukku -I go to hell -In hell I am forced to play Neocron for all eternity
If someone wants to prove to me that this game doesn't suck, please do try, I want to like this game, but so far it is possibly the biggest e-turd I have ever played.

It is not all that good of a game, primarily b/c there is no guide.
Things I have learned about Neocron: 1) Usefull comands: minus sign "-" is auto walk caps lock is auto run Alt E is 3rd person view Alt C Cycals chat chanels Alt H Pulls out your fist (if all else fails, punch it)
2) Basic interface Take the tutorial if you can (aka the text is ok, the voice is not important) tab puts you into item mode (much like SS2 and Deus Ex) on the top are all the windows you can open (and what F key they are bound to) move weapons and tools from your inv (f2) to your belt (think on the right) (excluding craft tools) press the coresponding # keys to use them Move armour to the amour window (f4 I think), you must place them in the correct box Implants to the implant window (f3 I tihnk), same as armour
Mouse 1 attacks Mouse 2 interacts
3) Starting Game Play: 1. Equip all your stuff 2. exit the first room (use the SS2 lifts) 3. go to one of the city terms, click on mail, and read/deleate all the mail, yes the only important one is in german. 4. find the guy in the middle area, he will talk about the procedure, get the start of a mission from him. 5. go to the enginere to get the rest of the mission (no it will not show in your mission listing) 6. exit this room via the door oposite where you came in. 7. go down the ramp and head right (P. Unit) 8. pass the second sign, and then you will see a building built on the liff (on your left) climb the ladder and go in. 9. your job is to kill the 2 bots in there and collect the prototype chips (4 of em) 10. They will only respawn if there is no one in the room, if there are to many people, your best bet is to forget it and skip to step 12. 11. once you have 4 chips go back to the enginere and get your 3K reward. 12. Go down the ramp again, this time go left to the generep. 13. Tell the generep to send you to your apartment (1K creds) 14. Leave the apartment and wander aroun/go into sewer level 1 and kill stuff (the items you want are the red bone grafts, they are light weight and sell for alot, rats drop em)
4) Advanced Stuff 1. Nav Ray is your friend, learn to use it: a) Pull up the navray system with f9 b) Select your destination (pick the first one on both lists for your apartment) and folow the doted line.
2. Generep: When you die you go to one of the genereps you have activated (this costs like 150 creds) you can teleport around em, this costs alot of creds (for a newbie) You can auto retrieve your pack from one for not to many creds (it goes up with your level ups)
3. levelups: morowind style, use a skill and that stat goes up, each time you get a stat up you get 5 points to place in your skills under that stat. I think you can get level up in stats that your temates are using (this is actualy very nifty)
4. Hacking Is A Pain Equip hack tool fire at a locked box you will have a screen with a bunch of lines. You are the light on the left, move up and down with w and s 'fire' to light up the curent line on the bottom right is a row of stars, you need to have all of these lit up when the time runs out. Your oponent will try to shut down your lines. You only have a few lines you can light up per try (this is bassed on your skill level) play around with it to get the hang of it.
5. construction pull up your construciton window (it is like f7 or sometihng) place the required items in the small boxes and hit start. things you can do: repair ussing repair tool and item (reload with repair nanites) craft ussing craft tool, blueprint, craft nanites, and required items implant with implant tool, implant, and implant lube some other stuff that I don't know yet.
As for how to navigate, It just comes from [playing alot, you wil llearn the ways around.
if you have questions I think I can help (though I am about to go to work, I will be back in 8 hrs)
Sorry about vanishing guys... My ISP has been a bit weird recently going down for periods of time and it just decided to do so right while we were playing ^^;
Just remind me though... what does willpower do? All through NC1 the design team never seemed all that sure what they wanted willpower and weapon lore to be. Now Weapon Lore effects your aiming speed but what about willpower? Is it still a 'dead' stat that nobody has much use for outside of anyone using remote droids or does it have other uses now? =P
As it stands, I can't actually play this, I leave the first area and as soon as I step outside, it crashes. I reload the character and its permanently trying to synchronize

and what does will do for those riggers 4 life out there (like me?)
been looking around and all I can find on willpower is that it's still a stat used to decide whether you can use a drone or not... if you're not using drones might as well ignore it.
Sorry for vanishing rell... I crashed and couldn't be bothered so I went and played outpost for a change =P
Ooook. I've been playing since day one now and I'll give some feedback for the NS forumites I guess.
Literally put, this game sucks. And rocks.
It starts out incredibly annoying. Tutorial is absolutely useless, nothing is explained. You start, nothing is explained. You try to get a mission, nothing is explained. The first 6 hours I played consisted of doing nothing but running around doing..well..nothing. After a while I teamed up with a few people who knew what they were doing and hit the sewers. I died a few times, but this actually helped me learn how to respawn, where my apartment was, how to xp, what not to do, etc. So for 2 days after that I made a total amount of 5k credits which allowed me to buy ammo and medpacks to xp some more. And more. And more. The sewers are the most boring aspect of the game, but once you get them down you'll know what to do and what not to do.
Now, for the hackers. If you're in the sewers, you'll probably see a few ammo, armor and light weapon boxes. These are hackable. Open your equipment window by pressing tab and hitting equipment (f2 or something), and drag your hack tool to your quickselect bar on the right. When done, right click on a box. It'll say damn, locked. Now left click and the 'hack' sequence will start. Your goal is to light up 11 "buttons" using as few pulses as possible. The number of pulses you can send, the number of pulses required, etc, are all determined by your hacking skill as far as I can tell. Hacking is by far the coolest aspect of the game, the only thing you need to do is keep on it and not lose your interest after a few hours.
The best way (for me, anyway) to make money in the sewers were simply to loot the red bones from the corpses of the rats. These are bone enforcements, which you can later have implanted to enforce your armor/etc, these sell for nice amounts at the Cryotech store. Be sure not to sell these at the pawn shop, but actually at cryo's, they generate more cash there. Use your nav-ray system to find stores, locations and apartments, etc. Simply click somewhere you wish to go and click start. It'll lead you to it using waypoints.
Also, a small guide of NC1 hacking is located here, and a good read.
I'm actually enjoying it now. I usually solo or xp with friends, make nice money from the bones and the xp is good. Hacknet is most likely one of the coolest things I've seen in an MMORPG yet, and if you're interested read this as well. Basically, once your hacking is around 40--50, go to a GenRep (one of those thingies you can teleport with/get your backpack back with), get out your hack tool and left click. It'll be a pretty simple hack and bring you into hacknet. Explore and have fun, just try not to fall off, and watch out for "infected" databases, since they usually have infected npcs that attack and can kill you/throw you off the side if you're not careful. It's damned awesome to see a virtual version of "the net"
Neocron 2 is an awesome game once you get past the suckyness and start understanding it. They need to seriously fix the newbie unfriendlyness and add some things that *explain* stuff.

As for the blueprints, you need TL90 datacubes, which are sold for 400 credits at your faction HQ, on the same level as the supply manager (look for the supply depot if you're in city admin, in their HQ), but right now having the blueprints is pretty useless. You need a constructor to make them, and the only ones I've seen that people want to buy at the weaponpart blueprints, which are currently bugged and you can't download

From the looks of things beta is gonna be a while, I mean Fattle Run Time Errors virtualy disapeard in NC but in NC2 there back with advengence, thers also the fact that city terms still lack missions.
My name is ANeM and I'm trapped in the bottom of a pit in HACKnet =( oh, yeah.. I'm an assassin.. Not that it really matters all too much, since I'm kinda TRAPPED.

oh, and wither, what are you talking about 40-50 hack to get into hacknet, I got in with like 22.
The only point a high hack makes is in hack net it seems (it alowes you to use programs as weapons/armor)
Also, Wither:
do you know how to get blueprints from hacknet?
