Yet another work-in-progress area, this is right at the end of the hall I last showed you with the red lights and the crate... elevator shaft, leading down to the hive...
i like it but the blue walls are pretty dull looking, and dont fit with those walls below the elevator. cant think of anything for it though, try some other textures maybe. its also too blue, put some white lights in there as well.
I think that red lighting would suit better, and a darker texture used on the walls, and a general darker lit area.
Its a small space, the lighting should make the area feel even more smalling and claustraphobic, as should the textures.
If I took my own advice for once on my own map I'd probably be a lot better mapper, but heh, you can do with my advice, I'm not worth my own <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Those chairs in that computer lab are evil. One time, while I was playing on ns_veil as marine, I was jumping around one of those chairs and it somehow dislodged itself from its place and positioned itself on top of my head. No joke. I could see the bottom part of the chair on the top part of my screen, as if I was wielding as a weapon. My gun was gone and I could not fire, and the chair was gone from where it used to be (but it still clipped me from where it used to be). I've long since lost the screenshot I took, but it was one of the weirdest things I've ever had happen to me in NS.
Comes from using a weapon_cycler to put the model in the map. The engine gets confused and thinks you can pick it up sometimes. Quite hilarious, running around with a chair on your head. Unfortunately, no one else can see it.

Looks good. My only problem is that usually lifts have something to keep idiots who stand on the edge from falling off. Isn't a requirement, but it is a good idea. If done right it allows aliens to climb the lift without it being a barrel to shoot fish in as well.

Why do you even need a rail? Skulks can run up the edges, fades can blink up there, lerks can fly, and as for onoses and gorges; rails only hinder their movement onto and off the lifts. You shouldn't have to cater for noobs or the intoxicated who can't figure out when to stop pressing forwards when nearing a lift edge.
In short: it looks fine as it is.
EDIT: I do like like it however when you can see some sort of support which connects to the wall to propel the lift up and down, or air-brakes/rockets (something that helps you see how it gets from A to B).

DarkATI: Lift looking better and nicer now, I like the use of the 'haze' effect, although I'd love to see it darker lit. I don't know whether its the haze or the more blandness of the light but, it looks a bit too bright.
I formatted my STEAM drive and reinstalled STEAM because it was being buggy and I forgot to backup all the files related to the map. I have the RMF and MAP but I lost the custom WAD, Sounds and RAD File(s) I was using...

Map still being worked on... rewritten the RAD file, actually, I like this new one better, a more harsh tone to it. I am having to recreate my custom textures though...

Ns_Vargus is Back on Track. Please note that this hive room is WAY new. It's a huge work-in-progress, the lights don't have overlays yet etc etc. I just thought you all should see that I am still working on this thing.

architecture is nice, could be even better though. i wont say about lighting since those arent obviously the proper textures.
also if its a hive you need more green goo.
