The reason that the Boxed versions don't come with DoD:S is because valve WANT people to buy via steam. i really want what comes in the silver package, but i really really want the physical disks. what if steam goes down? or what if i move somewhere where i dont have an internet connection? without internet no steam, and without steam, cant play.
its a very hard decision. especially since i get cs:s next week if i get it over steam.

if valve is able to mail you a hat and posters, it would deem possible that they are able to mail you a disc with a game on it. perhaps if im lucky they will do that for an extra few dollars or something.
Like I said, Silver. The extra stuff in Gold is worthless to me, plus they might well charge me for shipping. I do, however, want to see one of the best games ever made reincarnated in a next-gen engine. Well, next-gen as of last year.
Oh, and my respect for CWAG just evaporated... I got that terrible image stuck in my head.
I'm geting the normal box, why? Well, HL2 is the thing i was waiting for, no hats, no shirts, no stickers. If i want mods i am going to download them for free, if they expect me to pay something for them i surely won't do it and get some other free mods.

Hmm, in North America TV is 30fps, in Europe 25FPS. 30FPS is more than enough. Just because you are used to running 100fps in HL, a 7 year old engine, doesn't meen you'll get 100 fps w/ source engine.

It'll get you Half-Life 2, but not much else, and if you're enough of a fan to buy a 3d card because you want good Half-Life performance you probably would never have bought this version in any case. Now if you want all the extra goodies you're going to have to fork out more money! Congratulations, and be sure to update to the new Control Panel because that more effectively hides all the useful controls.

Flawlessly? How come my 9600XT only nets me 30 FPS in CS: Source when I have no antialiasing on and I'm at 1024x768? It's certainly not my blazing fast CPU or ample RAM that's to blame.
...Wendy burgers weren't selling many triple burgers so they stopped making them. It turned out doubles went down in sales too. They figured that people reasoned like this: singles is the cheap option, triples the pig-out option, doubles is probably what I want. They started making triples again just to sell doubles...

Well, HL2 is the thing i was waiting for, no hats, no shirts, no stickers.
If i want mods i am going to download them for free, if they expect me to pay something for them i surely won't do it and get some other free mods.

I should kill you... Do you complain when you watch TV? Hmm, in North America TV is 30fps, in Europe 25FPS. 30FPS is more than enough. Just because you are used to running 100fps in HL, a 7 year old engine, doesn't meen you'll get 100 fps w/ source engine.
really, do you just look at video card benchmarks and see the FPS and nothing else?
