Hm, I've heard people moaning about these prices. Although thank your lucky stars Valve haven't took the route of MMORPG and made us buy the game, and a monthly subscription.
Thanks for locking the other topic coil, because how you get it and if you're satisfied have absolutely nothing in common.
In reply to the other thread that got locked, I'm extremely satisfied with my silver edition, and I havn't talked to one person that isn't. You get everything, at $60, though no cardboard box or manual (which I'm sure you can find scan's of both is you're that hell bent on having one).

Personally, I think the poll is a good gut-feeling representation of how people feel about the various packages... and then you can discuss it in the thread, too. If people would much rather separate the two discussions, that's fine with me - let me know.
I'll be getting Silver, as I said, though I'm holding off because HL2 and HL:S are my real interests, and I don't have the $$ immediately on-hand at the moment. But the fact that there were no huge issues raised over CS:CZ gives me confidence in Valve's ability to deliver as promised.
One thing I *have* heard (it may have been in this very thread) is this suggestion: If you're buying Silver or Gold, take the time to register a new Steam account. That way you will have the CD key that pertains to your current HL games AND a new CD key with HL2, the various Source ports, AND the existing Steam catalogue. If you bought it in the store you'd end up with two copies of HL1; it's only fair you should get the same online.
i wanna get the collectors edition so i can show the grand kids in years to come...
Me: See, little jimmy, this is the game that started it all. This was the first fps in the world, ever. Half Life 2. Jimmy: Why is there a 2 after it then? Me: Shhh Jimmy! You don't want Valve corp after you. They own the government now, dontcha know? Jimmy: How did that happen again? Me: Well, Valve threatened never to release HL2 unless all the governments of the world gave them control. Gabe was announced lord of the world and he sat atop a throne of edibles
hmm. ok so i took it too far. maybe there was something funny about that mayo i put on the sandwich im eating... maybe...
I'm definitelly with Marce on this one. But don't forget that id will have some low-level jobs in the government, as evidenced by DMC. So I'm guessing it's be calles "ValveSec"
CE Package for me, I've got to line it up with the rest of my retail games boxes right beside my HL:GoTY box, and then whenever I feel lonely due ot lack of human (specifically female) contact I can just look at those boxes and they'll remind me of the game then I'll turn it on and do a few bunnyhops around Alyx and see her expression change and then I'll feel good again. Sadly I'll never be able ot show the box off to my grandkids because unless I program them they will never exist. And the thought of programming humans with comparable intelligence, the ability to grow, expand and reproduce, etc. is a very daunting task. And I'm a lazy procrastinator.
Isn't the CS:S and DoD:S just downloadable anyways, like the first versions were?
Cause when I bought HL1 (and even OpFor, which everyone seems to forget these days...) I just downloaded the other mods- no use in buying the silver package when you have the retail of the original HL.
So if I bought the CE package (that doesn't come with DoD:S) couldn't I just download it?
p.s. If I ever stop getting into car accidents and can afford some damn gas, I'm definitelly wearing the HL shirt to any LAN parties I make it to. The only thing I'm worried abot is that I won't get a hat with the retail package and I'm the skinniest guy ever so the shirt probly won't fit
