Genius. I can't wait to shove my raving fanboy tongue into their output port quick enough.

I'll wait to see just how flexible the interaction is between players and environment first. If it's just a slightly improved set of func_breakables (as I suspect it might be) plus a few physics enhancements, then I'm sorry, but the 6 year wait has hardly been worth it. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
When have they upped a review for those reasons? I've never once disagreed with their percentages, and frankly, enjoy their stuff a lot. Oh, and they do things to please larger advertisers? Is that why every EA sports game to come out in the last 2-4 years has gotten 60-78%, despite everyone else in the world going "OMG LEWK!" at it? Or why they willingly bashed another of EA's titles, Spearhead for MoH:AA? Or why Black & White didn't get its big thing, nor The Sims Online? Give me some proof of them upping it for no reason.

...and if ANY of you bring up the DOOM 3 review, I'm going to strangle you. Unlike many of you, they played the game for what it was- a horror game. It WASN'T an action game, and if it didn't scare you, then fine. But its sure as hell the scariest game out there on the market right now. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Exactly. With the exception of Alpha Centauri, which was messed up because the reviewer was on acid or something, all of their reviews have been spot on. I have never disagreed with any of their game of the year choices for any category, and if you say that they have raised scores by 10% I'd like to see some evidence.

I love PC Gamer US - I've never disagreed with any of their ratings and I've never been mislead by them. The demodisk is kind of useless though.

Anyways, not that it matters to y'all, but I've decided to stop waiting for ATi to make more XT PE's and softmod a Sapphire X800 Pro up to XT-PE levels. w00t for hardOCP.

I stand corrected. Perhaps the US version of the magazine is different to the UK one. And every other UK gaming magazine.

Its not like you need magazines to tell you the game is gonna be great. You only have to watch the videos.

The videos don't tell you if you get halfway through the game and crash, losing your savegame files, or if there's one impossible jumping puzzle, or if the story just gets retarted after the first few levels, or if the difficulty is way out of balance, or if the end level is a complete letdown, or just about anything else you can only get by playing it yourself or hearing about someone else play it.

Halo a 10? Super Mario Sunhine and Wind Waker a 9? Wario Ware a 6? ICO an 8? Get lost.

The editorials are always great, though.

Edit - in all fairness though, Edge pisses on all other videogames magazines from a great distance.

    More like a 7.

Wind Waker should have gotten 10 D:

Yes, then deduct one point for every soul-numbing Triforce shard slug-a-thon. Oops, 2/10!

The game will have to be excellent. With so many magazines giving it high scores, and then everyone gets it and is deceived, that'll mean not so many will buy mags afterwards.

I think the whole sailing section cleaves that score in two: it speaks volumes about the game if I have left it stagnating on my shelf because of it. Sigh, at least the dungeons were fun.

Edge is variable, teetering between intelligent journalism and sub 'a' level English Lit critique.

But it is good for job adverts.
