Less than two weeks away! This probably isnt the best spot to find fellow hunters, but hell, if you havnt tried it, I gotta reccomend! www.whitetail.com is a good begginners guide, and if you arnt of the shooting type, you can always put a bit of money or support towards our habitat! www.ducks.org

Hunting for food = fine
Hunting purely for fun/trophies = Murder.
Thank you for your time . That said, venison is yummy
And hey, this isn't limited to deer at all. Duck, goose, pheasant, all upland game have differant seasons, but are usually better for begginners (dressing fowl isnt nearly as ucky as deer).
And fishing! Angling off all kinds, freswater, salt, fly, deep or shallows are all very theraputic.
What, to make you want to kill more? I don't see where you are going with this.

Well said my man! Hunting for trophies isnt hunting, canned hunting isnt hunting, firing from a half mile away isnt hunting. There is a certain degree of sportsmanship thats gotta go into this. Jackers (hittin a deer with a light at night, stuns it) are the scum of the earth.
P.S. Don't get me wrong, if I bag a 12 point buck, that sucker is goin on the wall.
[EDIT] And freshwater (lake) fishing is teh win. Rainbow trout are delish!

Fly fishing in Colorado is lots of fun. I like to go do that with my family.
Edit: Besides, its only proper huntin' if ya'll go after them boars with a machete!
Plus it is fun, but the waiting isint.
Due to people killing wolves a lot, the deer's natural preditor is in short supply. If people don't hunt them then they run out of food supply and more die than the fish and game department allow.
Hunting is actually better for the deer, beleive it or not, than leaving them.
Although it's mans fault that the wolves are now endangered... gg man...
But the venisen is sure tasty!
We've done it as long as man has been in existence, and other animals do it daily.
And when other animals hunt, its nowhere near as pretty, or humane.
Yeah. When you screw up the balance [i.e by killing a whole lot of harmless wolves], you either have to stop screwing up the balance [i.e stop killing a whole lot of wolves] or try and balance it more, by killing some deer.
Or just say 'to hell with it all', and go hunting for some new shoes. CROCODILE SHOES. In Africa.
For one, its great fun, its an experience no human being should be without, its a good sport, and it provides the hunter with a damn tasty meal for quite a long time. Dear, duck, pheasent, it's all good.
*edit* It is also rather humane, too. There are hardly any instances where the animal lives past the first shot, and if it does...it's not like the hunter proceeds to skin it alive or anything, he finishes it off.
*edit2* You also get nice trophies quite often. But, as was said before...hunting just for fun/trophies is bad.

But, but, they attack the sheep..and cows..and stuff. Think of the sheep, man! Without them, the Scottish would be a sad people indeed. They need to be taught. And there's only one way to teach them.
That said, hunting with rifles and shotguns (unless you're hunting for fowl and birds, in which case birdshot is necessary) is for ****.
If you're going to hunt, which I don't really condone because I think it's a pretty pathetic 'sport' to begin with (Isn't the definition of 'sport' supposed to be 'competition?), why don't you do it with, you know, SKILL. Yeah, that's one of those words you inadequet, lamentable, useless washouts don't understand. Give it a try for once in your pitiful, sad, and utterly inept anthologies of failures YOU HAZARD TO CALL 'LIVES'. YOU ALL SICKEN ME, EVERY ONE OF YOU!

Except even bow hunting is getting sad, since they've got so many gadgets it nearly does everything except pull the string back for you. And I know for the hunters that use guns that want to pretend they're bowhunting there are hunting crossbows so they don't have to do all the work.
*Spit*
On another note, if you live in OR, be very careful while hunting deer. A lot of them have become very dangerous and unpredictable because of a massive skin-lice type disease afflicting them this season. If you shoot the animal, be very, very careful while approaching it, and if it seems weak, if you can, get a hold of the forest authority so they can come and help the animal, chances are it is sick, just don't kill it, and definatly don't kill it and plan on eating it.
When they have grown to trust you, make the moves on one of the females. Then kill her, and flip out with a knife and slaughter the rest. That's hunting.
Anyway, the last time you went hunting, didn't you end up pinned down in a house by the forces of darkness? I sure wouldn't risk that again.

Holy crap.. sounds like a case of the Islamic Suicide Deer.. killing unsuspecting americans one family at a time
It's quite nasty, their skin is a breeding ground for thousands of parasites. If I couldn't get help for the animal, I'd put it out of it's misery
