<div class="IPBDescription">Regular? Or Collector's Edition?</div>I placed my pre-order for HL2 collector's edition today, but now I'm having second thoughts. Perhaps I should downgrade to regular HL2. After all, its almost the price of two games, and considering MGS3, GTA:SA, Metroid Prime 2, and the Nintendo DS are all coming out like at the same freakin time, and I'm really tight on cash now.
Hmm... There isn't really much of a reason to get the collector's edition really.. I mean there's the T-shirt too big for me to wear, HL:Source which, while neat, is not worth the extra cash, and having the game on DVD instead of CD...
And no, I'm not going to get it over Steam, for reasons I've already explained 80 times. So all you "olo retail r teh sux0r steam steam steam ololo" types just can it.

Borderline as geeky as me buying all 3 versions of X-Men: Legends. I didn't even work on it and I don't have a PS2 yet, for crying out loud!

You know what makes it feel like my money is well spent? A good game. If you need a box to reassure yourself that Half-Life 2 was not a complete waste of money, you may want to reevaluate your priorities. Would you rather give money to Valve or Vivendi Universal? Sure, Vivendi gives you a box, but Valve gives you wonderful games and a revolutionary new content delivery system that hasn't gone down in a while. And didn't go down when CS: Source came out, and if that won't bring Steam down I don't know what will.

Nothing's stopping you from finding a scan or something on the internet, although that's still suffering from the same "must have box" compulsion that seems to warp the brains of even the normalest people. Like esuna, who is the paragon of normal.

Ive beaten HL 4 times an opposing force 2, as well as They Hunger twice, and practically every other single player HL mod once.
[edit] I only really got board of HL about half a year ago.
What I want is a tangible product that years from now when Steam is long dead I can still play HL2 with.
THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!!!
Jeez. And this is before anyone can play it, this is all preorders... how does that happen? They've outsold the vast majority of games many times over and it isn't even out yet!!
