About the health bar: You don't lose your health, you lose your health bar. You know, the thing on your HUD that tells you how much health you have? It's gone, but you don't die instantly when you lose your shield.

At first I wasn't excited about Bungie.net's stat tracking system, but then I saw this. Indeed, Bungie.net is looking like it'll be the internet's leading cause of awesome when Halo 2 comes out.

My only question for the first people to play it :
Does it, like Halo, feel like you're running through treacle?
I loved Halo, I really did. But the momentum and physics didn't half irritate the crap out of me. Especially the slllooooowwww movement on practically everything. (Yes, before someone jumps in, I have Xbox and PC versions)
Ya, that was my only concern. If you are side strafing and you jump while doing so you are just asking for a sniper round to the head.
The funny thing was you could jump onto marine and hunters. <_<
mmm, that stat tracker thing will rock for all you but suck for me, I HAVE N0 M4D SKILLZ in XBL >_<. Search for Username 'Rwiju' on Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorow. Jesus >_>
Just talked to someone who got to play it at a Best Buy booth, and they where talking about a "Sentinel" gun. Remember the little robot guys from the first one with there death rays? Like that but more of a constant beam.
Everything except that comment that the LE is 2 discs on top of eachother makes me more excited about the game.
...despite the fact some of the textures in those videos look a bit bland. Topography always looks so sharp though...plus the intro movie looks like it will have interesting levels (MP levels look designed well, but a bit bland in spots...video quality is also kind of poor).
I just played through the first level of the campaign. It was good, about what I was expecting. There were a few glitches in the cinematics, just a couple minor ones with sounds not quite synching up with graphics. Nothing gamebreaking, but it shouldn't really have made it past quality control that early in the game.
Firing dual wielded SMGs (or just one) makes your view climb something fierce. Think Quake 2's machine gun, and that's the Halo SMG. Dual plasma rifles were my weapons of choice, a very fast firing rate and very nice damage, and they cool off faster than they did in the original too. I think the battery lasts longer as well.
You view can be zoomed with any gun now, but you can only fire while zoomed on the battle rifle and maybe some others I didn't get to use like the sniper rifle and rocket launcher.
Plasma grenades look much more awesome.
Architecture seemed much more varied this time around. While the Pillar of Autumn level in Halo was very sparse and consisted of pretty much nothing but corridors, this first level contains a lot of more complex level design and a definite increase in variety. Yes, the predominant color is a boring gray, but they do much more with it this time architecturally. That's a big plus.
The marine stationary gun seemed a bit meh in terms of firepower, the alien plasma turret was more satisfying. They both seemed a bit superflous, as it's just as effective to get down and dirty with your own weapons than to sit behind the turret and get it done.
***very minor spoiler alert***
There's a bit where you go outside into a low-gravity low-atmosphere environment and sounds are muted drastically, a nice touch.
***end spoiler***
All in all, a solid game. It definitely has that Halo feel to it, in fact one could almost complain that the single player campaign feels kind of like an expansion pack with better graphics, more weapons and different levels. Definitely a fun game however, and the plot is well developed by cutscenes and in-game radio traffic.
Haven't tried multiplayer yet, and won't before the game actually releases. This was a strictly one-time deal

I just realized the shield indicator is above the motion tracker...it's so out of the way. It's annoying when you need to look all over the screen to get the information you need.
I shouldn't need to play 4 corners when I want to know my status...
Along with the health, they should have just kept it like in the first one. Although, this is something that I consider worse than the lack of health.
Especially in a game with the motion tracker turned off, it will be even more retarded.
