The Half-Life 1 music files are in the .gcf file, if I remember correctly.

Well, I have a 30 GB bandwidth allotment for my webspace; that should be enough to cover the load, I think. If you can put them all in ZIP files, I can give you the FTP information to put them up on my webspace.

EDIT: Please keep the game scores in individual ZIP files (one ZIP for Balder's Gate, one ZIP for Planescape, etc. etc.). That way people can pick and choose what they'd like to get (although I know they'll want it all).

Slave Zero soundtrack available from its official site.
Oni soundtrack available from Oni Central at Bungie

MedHed, I'm gathering the mp3's now. Slave Zero stuff was among them, which led me to start looking for already-existing mirrors to lighten your load.

You can get the HL1 Soundtrack (as well as OpFor and Blueshift I believe)

I have installed Half-Life etc through Steam. Not through your primitive "CDs" whatever the heck those are. Can I get the music without the use of archaic piece of round plastic is what I'm asking.

Edit: That said I found them hiding in my Steam directory. No worries mate.

I'm surprised no one has looked for Homeworld!

I'd *love* to have the credits theme for Homeworld 1, by ancient rockers Yes. *Damn* good song, "The Ladder".

I'm not sure if that will be released for free, since it was included in a special "Game of the Year" edition.

--------------

Marik_Steele has completed the upload, and the following soundtracks are available from me. Please send me a private message for the URL to each soundtrack. Please, don't spread this URL around, since I have limited bandwidth, and I want only the truly interested to get these songs.

Baldur's Gate
FreeSpace 2
Planescape Torment
Red Faction
Starfleet Command
The Hobbit
Wheel of Time

Once again, if someone else you know wishes to download these files, have them send me a private message. I'm doing this (along with viewing my own site logs) to measure bandwidth usage. I don't want to go over my limit (30 GB). Once I get near that point I will stop downloading ability, because I don't want to get into trouble!

Was I kooky in the head or was there not an arrangement of Adagio on that one?

Yes, I'm pretty sure there was. Infact, I think it was the mission you return to the planet after the hyperdrive test, if that helps/narrows it down anymore.

Yeah, I recalled it as being early on... We actually played that in high school (well, the band did, I didn't since there were no percussion parts *shakes fist*) during a period when I was playing the game... Drove me mad, though, because I never could put them side by side to compare for sure.

Adagio or not, it was the perfect theme for a world on fire.

Edit: DING DING DING!

http://www.bysmitty.com/Soundtracks/Homeworld/Homeworld.htm

30 second samples of 3 tracks, including Adagio.

Edit2: Apparently the Homeworld soundtrack is available packaged with the Game of the Year Edition. Will have to do some searching on this one... Anyone happen to own that version?
• MedHeadMedHead Join Date: 2002-12-19 Member: 11115Members, Constellation
Yes, there is a choral version of Adagio for Strings in the soundtrack. It's my favorite version by far.

I'm really post-whoring it up here, but thought I'd add a list of titles I know that can have their soundtracks extracted either from the disc or the installation files (many of these I finally ripped to my collection over the weekend):

Warcraft II/WC2 Expansion
Quake
Quake II/Q2 Mission packs (a couple duplicates)
Quake III (.pk3 file?)
Half-Life (CD, .gcf)
Half-Life 2 (.gcf)
Doom 3 (single track, .pk4)

Does anyone remember if the old Command and Conquer games used actual audio tracks? There was some great stuff there.

I don't believe the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack's been released. And we're only posting legal tracks/soundtracks that have been released by the developers of the games.

Awesome post with the Jet Force Gemini songs!

Ah, yes, the Homeworld music. Great stuff. I'm not sure about the first one, but I got the Homeworld 2 music out of its compressed data using a program which I have forgotten the name of which was specifically made for the purpose of editing Homeworld 2 files.

The midi version of the Warcraft 2 soundtrack is very good, actually. I think it's a step up, actually. Of course, I never had the full version so I didn't hear the soundtrack as much...

While we're at it, does anyone else find that Windows Media Player always plays midis really, really loud? Any alternatives? Winamp doesn't seem to know what to do with midis...

Only problem with Adagio for strings is I've kinda assosiated it with men running away from a lot more men. Oh and they dying.
