<div class="IPBDescription">Wooooooooooo!</div> Ah 4th times the charm just awesome, I don't care if you’re not a football fan or you hate the eagles...I had to make a topic.

I hope the Steelers can pull it off and we'll have an absolutely amazing super bowl set up!

It saddens me that nobody even knows who Doug Pederson is. Nobody knew the Eagles existed until McNabb came into the picture.

No Reasa, I'm not calling you a fairweather fan - just everybody who changes their allegiance like the bleeding wind when it comes to football franchises (I know countless people who follow the good players. Now that San Francisco no longer has TO, nobody knows they exist).

    It makes me sad <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I wish it was like the stanely cup , when they present the trophy to the players not the owner.

They are the ones who earned it.
    oh well.

Lets see if its a PA superbowl.

Football is singlehandedly the most brutal sport. Consider that most players die before they are 60 (and you can forget about walking). Without pads the players would literally last a single game.

Rugby is girly compared to football. These football players are mounds of muscle who can run a hundred meters in 11 seconds flat. And those are just the linebackers.

I'd like to see you play an NFL game without pads and a helmet.

To be fair, "football" makes a lot more sense than "soccer" when describing a sport where you kick a ball the whole time....and generally the kicking motion involves a foot. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Nah it's just funny to watch idiot yanks like you get all angry and patriotic.

Dunno about an NFL game with no pads or helemt, perhaps if everyone on both teams did the same with no pads or helmet.

My reasons for saying it sucks has nothing to do with soccer, it's from when I played it at University; the whole pads helmet thing came accross as totally unessesary as it seem no more physical that Rugby. I found them more of a hiderance tbh, helemt restricted my view and the excess body armour just slowed me down.

Then there's the whole stopping and starting that goes on in the game ergh!

    Rugby > US Football

As for names Football aka Soccer makes more sense than Football where you cary the ball then throw it...

As for US football, I palyed it a few times with my mates, properly but without any protection. My only complaint against watching it is that the game stops so often for there to be any real action. Still I wish it were broadcast over here.

As for defending soccer, contries id list in that are: Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, UK and Spain just to start.

You could argue that they are dumb patriotic whatevers cos there's quite a few countries that play soccer <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> but turning this into a soccer vs american footie argument ain't gonna work tbh

The teams I played against were university teams, maybe they sucked by US standards but it was taken very seriously like all sports are here in the UK at Unversity level.

Rugby is and always has been a full contact sport yet is uses no crash helmets or mountains of pads. I'm not saying people don't get hurt playing rugby they do; getting killed or crippled while playing is known to happen as are serious injuries I've had a fair share of stitches and a few broken bones playing it one of which means I can no longer play the sport that I love most unfortuantly not unless I had a few thousand £ for a knee injury.

Your reaction was still way off the handle and made you look stupid, all I said was it sucks cos you have to wear body armour and crash helmets. You then go on a rant calling me an asshat and waffling on about soccer or something.

Well you have my sympathies for your injury...but I can't help but think that if you had been wearing "body armor" as you like to call it perhaps you wouldn't be so hurt. In a full contact sport it’s just smart to wear a helmet and pads period.

My reaction was completely justified and was not directed solely at you, Private Coleman also made his worthless jab but I decided to ignore it. It's any topic about football really, I have yet to see one go by in here without someone saying something negative, it’s rather annoying.

Because there are 32 NFL teams, each with separtate ambitions. So no, the 'NFL' was not after this man.

Second, unless this man is at least 250 pounds, he would get no place in the National Football League as a runningback. I don't care how spry he is - in games such as this spry simply does not cut it.

Third, in a game without pads there is much less contact. No rugby player in their right mind will dive headlong into a 267-pound man powering forward.

Fourth, Warren Sapp is a very muscular man. I have absolutely no doubt that he could outrun both of us.

Last, yes I have watched rugby (in the wonderful world of the United States we have ESPN). And no, rugby cannot even begin to compare to the brutality of football. Saying that it is is akin to telling me that lacrosse is more brutal than hockey.

Well I picked the UK out specifically because that happens to be where you’re from, come on now use your head...or maybe you can't since you manly men hate helmets so much.

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Rugby is and always has been a full contact sport yet is uses no crash helmets or mountains of pads. I'm not saying people don't get hurt playing rugby they do; getting killed or crippled while playing is known to happen as are serious injuries I've had a fair share of stitches and a few broken bones playing it one of which means I can no longer play the sport that I love most unfortuantly not unless I had a few thousand £ for a knee injury.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well you have my sympathies for your injury...but I can't help but think that if you had been wearing "body armor" as you like to call it perhaps you wouldn't be so hurt. In a full contact sport it’s just smart to wear a helmet and pads period.
I don't want my teams best players hurt or killed because somebody doesn’t think a helmet is "manly".

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Your reaction was still way off the handle and made you look stupid, all I said was it sucks cos you have to wear body armour and crash helmets. You then go on a rant calling me an asshat and waffling on about soccer or something<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

My reaction was completely justified and was not directed solely at you, Private Coleman also made his worthless jab but I decided to ignore it. It's any topic about football really, I have yet to see one go by in here without someone saying something negative, it’s rather annoying. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Helmets suck not cos they "ain't manly" but because I find they restrict a persons view.

Thanks for your sympathies but they arn't needed, I started playing Rugby well aware of the risks but I played it anyway because I love the sport and it's about enjoying yourself getting hurt is part of the game. If I was a professional player I would have gotten my knee rebuilt and would still be playing but I'm nowhere near good enough to be a pro player <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> so I'm stuck with a duff knee but I did enjoy my time playing and that's what counts imo injury or not.

<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    ROFL you've never seen the New Zealand All Blacks have you <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

As for them all being mounds of muscle pfft, the big players like warren sap look like reasonable large fellas with an extra stone or tow to bulk them out.

If Rugby is "girly" by comparison why was half the NFL trying to sign Jonah Lomu saying crazy stuff like "name your price" after he exploded into the Rugby World Cup in 95? <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I said half the NFL not the whole NFL.... besides Lomu isn't alone when it comes to NFL teams trying to tempt them away form Rugby, former England captain Martin Johnson's agent has been repeatedly approched by several NFL teams.

I have no idea what a US pound is in relation to a UK pound or a KG

I can tell you that both Johnson and Lomu weigh in at about 19 stone johnson is 6'7" and Lomu is 6'5".

Lomu was a winger and could run 100 meters in a little over 11 seconds from a standing start. bear in mind most wingers arn't that size in Rugby or that fast.

Johnson was a Lock and wasn't expected to be anywhere as fast as a winger.

You really wasn't watching properly on your "ESPN" or maybe you were watching Rugby League and not Rugby Union, the former is less emphasis on contact and more fluid in it's game play the latter is the one to which I am refering to. Maybe the less contacting with no pads is true in the USA but it certainly isn't elsewhere it seems.

Players in Rugby (Union) regularly clatter into each other while running at full steam, the ways of stopping a man running at full pelt are limited (tripping is not allowed and high tackles are also not allowed).

College football started off with different Bowl games, one for each division I think. I'm not sure how it works exactly, because I don't follow college football. The idea was after all of these bowl games for college football, there would be a Super Bowl for the NFL.

I don't know why college football has "bowl" games, though.
