(for sega)
Today I decided to play some Sonic...what a great game. Anyway, it's the first sonic for sega, a classic of course.

Anyone else here like sonic?

But seriously...how do you beat Dr. Robotnik in labyrinth zone? It's so hard...I can only hit him once before i die.

You don't even have to kill him (although you can if you have leet skills like me). Just keep going up and eventually you will get to the end and win.

Yeah the first 2 Sonics were great... I think I'll fire up the EmuCon and play some...

Sonic! Yes, love those games. Been a long time since I've played them.

The new ones don't exactly thrill me though, so I haven't really played those.

Sonic is indeed pwn. If you have a Gamecube, I recommend grabbing the Sonic Megacollection. Sonic 1,2,3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic 3D (which sucks), plus I think a few extras. *PERFECT* emulation. The Gamecube controller is really, really, really good for Sonic's 1-button gameplay too, with the oversized A button and all.

And did I mention it's perfectly emulated?

<3 Sonic 2 though. :D You can't get any better than it!

And for my fellow Sonic fans, have some kick-**** MP3s:

Awesome! I like OCRemix, but I don't like the Ice Mountain remixes there...that Ice Mountain Melody rocks, though.

Sonic (1) was the best. No cheesy "duck and spin" - no, boyeeeeeeeeeeeee, you had to build momentum to get out of that dip you're in. And it was actually difficult at times compared to other Sonics. Later Sonic games held your hand too much.

Sonic is the game that made me want a Genesis (I was an NES gal growing up). D: I really only remember the original though - I have vague memories of 2 and 3 (2 had Tails, whom I despised, and 3 had the different shields, yes?) and then Sonic Pinball. And Sonic & Knuckles - or was that Sonic 3?

Sonic 3 came before S&K, and on its own, was the worst Sonic game on the Mega Drive. However, combined with Sonic and Knuckles, it was very cool.

Sonic was the reason I bought a Mega Drive as well.

Edit: death to the irrelevant comma!

    SE~GA!

Did anyone play the 3D remake of Green Hill Zone in Sonic Adventure 2? Fantastic it was. Especially at the beginning, where the view starts out as side-on like the original games, then pans out into glorious 3D-o-vision as you run forwards.

Tell you what I'd love, an .mp3 of the boss battle that plays when you're chasing Robotnik through the forest on Sonic 3 - the first level I believe. I remember it being utterly fantastic.

Sonic 3 (as I recall) was the one that featured Knuckles as a villain. Then came the lock-on technology of S&K that let you go back and play through the previous games as Knuckles, which was odd.

Yes, I still have my original Sonic carts for the Genesis. I also have a SegaCD unit, and am looking for a copy of SonicCD that will freaking WORK, as the copy I found was apparently a bad press. (No, it's not the unit, I can still play Silpheed, Night Trap, and Sewer Shark just fine. ) Also looking for a first-gen 32X unit, to complete my tower of power. ^_^ Even if there was bupkus for games, I still want it just to have it.
Hell, that's the same reason I still have my original Sega Master System. Hang-On still rocks on toast, and Wonder Boy can't be beat by any amount of Adventure Island.

I may just pick up the collection.. but I want SonicCD, dammit! It had bar-none the best music of any of the games.

Do you still own the original (genesis) cartridge for it?

The original Sonic, labelled 'NOT FOR RESALE' in red letters on a white stripe across the front of the cartridge? Yes. I've got a first-gen Genesis, and a first-gen SegaCD (the unit with a motorized slide-out tray... genesis sits on top, rather than to the side with a flip-up cover). Sadly, I have none of the RF shielding plates. It still works perfectly.

I still fire up ye ol' Sega Genesis sometimes. I've got Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles (S&K Sucks because you can't save, but it's cool when you hook it up to Sonic 3, because then you get uber long story mode). I have a couple other Genesis games, but I don't play them obviously. I even have all the chaos emeralds supercharged in Sonic III S&K.

I've got a Sonic 1 and a Sonic 2 like that (...and an Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing...but that's not really important).

3+S&K is my favorite, especially with a friend (I just hate Sandopolis). 12 (...full) zones and an inching of a storyline (that you didn't need the manual for). Even if it just was Knuckles laughing at you and then huddle over when his big emeralds get stolen.

3 is far too short by itself, but at least it includes the ability to save (and a better ability that keeps track of continues with S&K)

2 has the best multiplayer, though. Esepcially with the casino night zone, where one person can go debug and try to make a big pinball machine (before Sonic Spinball). I like the beginning of Hilltop and Winged Fortress zones' music.

SonicCD (yes, I've got a working copy; but no working SegaCD - along with Jurassic Park, Rise of the Dragon, Sewer Shark, Prize Fighter and a non-working Dungeon Master 2 (...My favorite game and I lost it under my bed, somehow). Haven't played it on my SegaCD in years (since it hasn't worked for years). There are [psuedo-legal] ways to run SegaCD games on regular CD-ROM drives. If I just had a working RFU adapter...I could play it.

...Convienetly enough my older (original model) Genesis still works (better than my Playstation, even). The SegaCD is actually part of my X'Eye system, which is a combined SegaCD/CDPlayer/Genesis, but it was cool when it worked. Pffft, I miss Sega consoles .

1 has the most variety and interesting stuff going on. Plus it's the easiest level select (up, down, left, right, A+start).

Heck, I even have like 100 Sonic comics sitting somewhere in the basement at home. Some how I doubt they're worth anything...And a Sonic Halloween costume. I enjoyed my Sonic back in the day...that stuff's been sitting unused in the basement for years.

Yeah.. Sonic CD was one of the more unique Sonic games. And yes, Sonic R had awesome music. I ripped my copy and listen to the music all the time. My friends are sick of me playing it in the car.

I've also got all the first run Sonic carts (except 3d blast and spinball), but alas, my genesis (also first gen) doesn't seem to work anymore. We (i and my brother) used to have the Sega CD to go along with it, but he gave it away to our cousin as a christmas present.. i want it back. hehe. i've also got a 32x that i've never used, and don't even know if it works since my Genesis doesn't.

Gah. reading all this makes me want to play Sonic3/Sonic and Knuckles again. what an amazing game. GOOOO Hyper Sonic!
