The Duel of the Bots was postponed when 3.0 was released as Clamatius and Cheeseh had to update their versions. Then we had to wait for the waypointers to redo most of the maps (especially angst and daimos ... ugh). And THEN I more or less had to start from scratch as they just weren't the same as pre-3.0.
I'd have to disagree with "Once you learn those, you can beat them easy." because I know you haven't battled a Whichbot v0.94g fade yet, have you?
I got them pretty balanced for the match but am currently awaiting a commitment from my HLTV host.

CS: Condition-zero had Waypoint-less bots. Think NS can have those as well? If I remember correct each map had to be "analyzed" first by some program so the bots know how to play effectively.
Wouldn't THAT be kool? I dunno if that's possible or not though. The Whichbots even ambush on some maps now. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well obvious CS is a much simpler game but I wonder how much work it'd be to "teach" the bots some tactics and then program them to be able to analyze each map beforehand so they can figure out strategies on their own in combat maps. Classic is even more complex, but if blizzard can crank out some decent AI for RTS games, maybe we can eventually crank out decent AI for a FPS/RTS hybrid?
The challenge is making AI act intelligent without using too much CPU power. That being said, the reason we don't have Commander bots is because it is currently not possible to alter marine resources via a plugin.
