The problem is that it didn't work right. Fades frequently got stuck in structures and couldn't get out unless there was a movement chamber close enough to use. Considering how important an early fade can be for the alien game, I wouldn't want the game decided on whether or not the fade gets stuck in a wall.
Ah.... the good 'ole days of babblers... I remember when NS used to be fun, before the uber fades and overpowered chambers... sadly those days are gone...
Babblers were FUN, thats what NS needs. Not gameplay or realism, but fun. I know at least 25 people that have left because of the many "minor" changes that took place over the years that completely ruined the game...

Yes, because sitting there watching a red screen holding down your attack button is so much better than just watching the red screen. Soooo much more entertaining, holding that button down.

No, bile bombs are essential as well. You can't stay entertained in an onos stomach. it was funnywhen the beta's were out, but it's not fun anymore.
im lost, thx for updating me on that. Still, I think it's worth more to work the bugs out of the true blinking than the bugs in some of the other features they kept; like devour. It pulls you further into the game.
Going back to topic. It would take a bit to get babbler back in even if it was wanted by masses. Damage, res use, level weapon, etc. You should post some specifics on how it can be incorporated in the current version of NS. That would make it easier to see. They were fun in the past, but how would they fit now?
I loved babblers, they made NS sooo much fun. It isnt like they were a really serious weapon or anything. A single marine vs. a single gorge with babblers was not really much of a fight. They took like, one LMG bullet before exploding anyway.
However, if you had enough gorges pull together and mount an all out babbler rush on a few marines or marine start...funnnnnny! Stupid babblers running around like seesaws bounding back and forth was a wonderful site! The utter chaos 10+ babblers caused was worth getting killed (and worth the minimal cpu lag). I say replace spit with babblers and bring back the fun to NS!
And I love the people wanting realism, it's a game about aliens and space marines for pete sake.
They look like skulks but bounce like snarks from HL towards their target. They have very very little HP and their attacks are weak. Marines could kill them or they would terminate on their own after several seconds in the form of a mini-xenocide. The mini-xenocides didn't do much damage.
They could be tweaked to be comperable to bile bomb. They already did damage to structures.
Imagine the little flood characters from Halo. Kinda like those.
there matt are you happy, i'm posting. go babblers go. wooohooo.
anyway i agree with mikey, babblers instead of spit.

I'm sorry, but babblers ****ing sucked balls. I smiled from ear to ear when I originally read of their removal before 2.0 released, and there isn't a game where I don't relish their lack of existence.
Or the gorge could create a Babbler, a single fully caraspaced skulk to follow him around. This way the gorge could release one, then build chambers or restowers while the babbler guards his back. This makes it less cpu intensive as its only one smart babbler instead of 14. Other ideas would be to create a Babbler Gorge. Less health, but can heal/spit/build/bilebomb like the normal gorge. Its kinda like a mirror effect. Marines run in, see two gorges, they know ones a babbler, but which? This also allows the gorge to build/heal/bile twice as fast, which would make a great 4thslot skill.
I agree Babblers rocked but NS have moved on now it's time for somthing new like instead of web the gorge gets a type of biological mine that detonates on contact. I'd take that over a weak Babbler anyday.

In NS you can't put down that many, and if you have a hive webbed after having all three up the other team probably has a GL by then. They're annoying as hell for marines and I've seen what I'll call "web-time" vary from a few seconds to ten seconds regardless of what the marine does. Unless the guy is ramboing and the gorge is alone making a cowardly escape since he made no OC's, it just frustrates things. In CO, don't get me started about a carapace/regen onos sitting in front of the hive while three gorges on the team just web JP's and killing the onos gets impossible.
In my opinion, to make things more fun things should play to offense, and not defense/frustration. Gorges as the weakest offensive class make this a fair deal. It's a lot more fun without drastically revamping gameplay, like say a blink change or a focus addition.
I'm just posing a hypothetical because I'm completely dubious about this happening in any form other than a plugin. I greatly encourage the ongoing development and use of the plugin, a good way to get it into the game is by showing that it can and does work on a number of different servers.
Oh yeah and the guy who had the onos devour room idea (I think Savant), that sounds AWESOME. I love it.
You do know how idiotic it is to claim that an ability both sucks AND is really annoying to deal with? You can't have it both ways. Webs are good, therefore marines hate it whenever gorges get them. And they damn well should be good. At hive 3, marines target gorges before skulks or lerks because they don't want to be webbed. Well, that's a tradeoff; you won't get webbed but the other aliens will most likely kill you. Not to mention the fact that if jps in combat bothered to get a welder they can more often than not weld away any webs they meet in the hive, or at least enough to maneuver decently.

babblers sucked. if AI was better, i wouldn't mind them.
No, no, absolutely no. Devour slows down the onos, it's a one-hit weapon that you can use every 20 to 30 seconds, depending on how hurt the marine was, and right now it gives health to the onos. The hit-and-run onos is frequently on the brink of death anyway; if you let a marine knife him while he's digesting that's (30 damage/sec) * (20 seconds) = 600 damage just from the frickin marine in his stomach. what i would like to see is stomp reduced or unusable while digesting.
depot, do you have the babblers plugin? was there ever one?
if there was, just ask your favourite server op to take a look into it. but please don't force babblers onto the rest of us.
