yes i kno its in the wrong thread but as its not a multiplayer map and is only gonna get played once, i wanted it to be played by more than 30 or so ppl who browse the mapping forum
Anyway, heres the download:
<a href='http://www.brywright.co.uk/downloads/files/index.php?dir=natural-selection/&file=ns_training_1_setup.exe' target='_blank'>Main download - BryWright</a>
<a href='http://www.sorcerer.de/files/ns/ns_training_1_setup.exe' target='_blank'>Mirror 1 - Sorcerer.de</a>
<a href='http://overmind.pl/files/ns_training_1_setup.exe' target='_blank'>Mirror 2 - overmind.pl</a>
<a href='http://www.rit.edu/~jlh4550/ns_training_1_setup.exe' target='_blank'>Mirror 3</a>
damn it feels good to finally be able to release this (now 4 months after original submission)
enjoy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

e/ strange it worked fine for me. Anyway, that really was quite good. My only problem is with the arms chache how when you press use on the weapon pictures you get a totally different voice than you're used to. Specifically because it doesn't sound all that "pro" for lack of a better word. You don't actually encompass all the tech in the game but really i'm glad you didn't. For many people it would have probably gotten very tedious. Much of what was shown was quite valuable for the first few rounds of the game. Really well done, it stuck well with the NS theme (minos scripted explosions :P),I'm impressed.
/edit:
same as below poster <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
when you try and open the map
made a small error in the installer. fixing it and reuploading

Haha, nice one.
/edit: I agree with the above poster.
Wow I like doing that.
/editedit: please hurry, I want to play the map, yet go to sleep at the same time. Sleep is winning as of now.
/editeditedit: I'm impatient. I'm tired. It still doesn't work. Chop chop with the map.
Actually I really want to play it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
/editediteditedit: thank you
not long 2 go, just testing it on a clean machine
But on the clean machine it now was possible to install it and run it so.. that problem should be solved now.
But as I got message, it can occur, that the created shortcuts don't work. If so, please use the Trainings map entry in the "play games" menu of steam.
edit: have fun <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
this was beautiful!! that onos literally made me jump. hahahaha. this is truly a work of art meat. could use a little polishing, but other then that, this was awesome.
.......now, why the hell did the dev team pass on this? was it the installer? because that worked flawlessly for me. seriously, what's the word on this? i really want to know why they won't implement this. maybe they jealous because they can't do something like this?
I must say Suprisinglyh good job, didn't expect so good.

I applaud your efforts, and say this should be included in 3.1.
You sir are the dog bollocks to coin an english phrase <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Edit
Any chance this can be stickied in the new player forum?
*edit*
hmmmm.... it works now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I must say, that was the most awesome map ever. EVER.
[edit]To answer an above post: I was about to sticky a thread in the new player forum and put a link in it to this thread, but then I saw that the above link to download is only temporary. As soon as a more permanent host is found, I can make a stickied thread there.
Only bad part i could think of is i couldn't train on the alien team <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->, i guess that's just kind of expected though since newbies will probably learn the game on the marine side before they play around with the aliens since they need a higher degree of skill.
/rallies for inclusion in 3.1
The beginning as well was pretty boring when you were in the "classroom" learning about the structures and lifeforms, just sitting around twiddling your thumbs until the action started for a moment. I believe it would have been better for the player to personally encounter each structure and lifeform throughout the entire tutorial, although what you did was amazing still.
The "final assault" on the hive, while pretty cool, might have been better if the player learned more about the structures beforehand as the commander, and was able to command bots into the hive to destroy it -- not himself.
Overall, though, it was pretty damn fun to sit through. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Good work, although I cant say it has my vote for going offical. Too many parts are fast paced at times or too boring, as well as not all structures are gone over. Still.. good work.

Great job, meat, I'm very proud to have my name in the credits, even if it was only 1 texture. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
To be honest, true confusion would start when you enter the arms cache, and you suddenly spawn as a HA w/ HMG. There needs to be explanation before this on what HA is, explanation on the weapons etc. The challenging part would be to make it interesting, and on this perspective, I agree with many points with Haze. His critiques are quite valid. Though I feel that the the training session in the holoroom was interesting, and I'm sure new players wouldn't get too bored, veterans may i'm sure.
I'm sure your going to hear this alot, but an alien training section should be created as well.
It would also be handy if your installer could make a copy of the config.cfg in the ns directory, and put it in the training directory so you dont have to rebind everything.
Two bugs I have noticed.
1. In the holoroom, the model of the defense chamber was the unbuilt model, not the build version like the other chamber that were showcased.
2. In the small room where the hp/ammo/cat packs were introduced, I noticed that the white light moved to quickly to the ammo pack, it was out of sync with what the narrator was talking about.
Very good work nonetheless, i'm quite impressed! keep it up people, I look forward to the next version!
This wasn't made for veterans. It was made for new players, to get them interested and show them a little bit of what NS is about. If they enjoy it, that's all that matters.
and i do agree with parts of it like the briefing room being too long winded, the devs mentioned this too, but no-ones heard from darkhand in so long now ive been unable to change it.
unfortunately the whole arms cache section where u walk in and r given a set start up was a result of the lack of working entities, u cant just drop watever weapons u want and let the player choose, u hav to actually give them to the player on round start. and yes the weapon audio descriptions r cack but theyre only optional anyway
as for me improving it for future versions i am not going to bother, for one it wuld mean finding a new voice actor anyway and secondly and ull hav to take my word on this, it stands no chance of official inclusion. and as im happy with the state its been released in, no its not perfect but i think its as good as anyone can do with the resources, im just going to leave it as it is.
anyway im off on holiday,
hasta luenga <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
