A.k.a. God hates people who start sentences with "God hates." Man I'm in trouble now.
Time and time again, I see the expression "God hates." I don't need to name examples nor main perpetrators. But each time, using an expression like this one strikes me as MIND-BOGGLINGLY ARROGANT.
Who the **** are you, and who gave YOU the authority to speak for God? We're talking about a God who will send you to hell for using his name in vain, mind you. I can't even begin to imagine the punishment for trying to put words into his mouth. Oh boy. I'd be scared shitless if I was in your position.
But it is not too late. God is also a kind God. End your wrongdoings and repent, NOW, and salvation can yet be yours. With luck.
Or, in other words: Stop saying "God hates," asshat. Nobody buys it, it doesn't lend any credibility to your arguments, and you make yourself the laughing stock of the entire forum. Not to mention that whole eternal damnation thingie.
Thank you for your time.

Edit: On second thought, leave the link. It can't do any harm that hasn't already been done.
Surely the FBI would be able to prosecute based on that particular volley of hate filled rhetoric?
Addendum -
Leave the link in. I don't think that anyone reading that could possibly leave the experience with anything but a greater empathy for the sort of treatment it's possible to receive at the hands of bigots.
Edit: Well, yeah, the small group of people that really do use it seriously are annoying, but since I'm an atheist I can mostly just laugh at them. I guess it's just a lot bigger a deal to christians :/
I saw some annoying interview with the family (yeah the family) that runs... a certain... (trying to put it nicely so as not to offend) godhates[slangterm for homosexuals].com site. The middle aged girl was like, so convinced it was sick... she said, "It's true, God hates {slang-term}s and they're all gonna burn in hell."
Those people need to go read the New Testament, they've clearly missed the point.
EDIT: Sadly, some people are serious when they say it, liek this family I mentioned. So it is a big deal, to me anyway. I find it repulsive.

I didn't know ignorance and bigotry could be so hilarious.
On that note, I don't see this topic going anywhere useful, unless of course someone wants to argue FOR those websites. Here's an attempt:

Hate based rhetoric isn't prohibited at all. The only kind of inflammatory, hate-filled speech that isn't protected under the First Amendment is speech that presents an imminent threat, or that is likely to provoke immediate violence or other illegal actions. I should know this; I just had a test on this exact issue today in US Gov. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Yes it's disgusting, but the Court's have already upheld a gathering of neo-Nazis' right to march through a largely Jewish community.

The government cannot discriminate based on content. You could have a KKK rally in downtown harlem, and if you obtained a TPM permit from the appropriate government officials, your views and demonstration are protected speech and assembly.
On the topic of God Hates, it's important to make the distinction between sin and sinners. God hates sin, that's why the Bible says mankind is in trouble. God loves sinners, which is why he payed for that sin himself, and why the Bible says anyone can come into a relationship with God, at any instant, should they just ask for it.
Saying God hates is not theologically incorrect, it's where that hate is directed that causes the problems.
Stop saying "God hates." It's the most worthless statement since TWG's "I'm not a wolf!"
People are always asking God to do something, help this person out, stop this from happening, stop that from happening, save this person, help me do this,.....
I can imagine God (if hes really there) saying something like this.
God: "Believe in me, follow my teachings, and live your life accordingly and you will have the ultimate victory in the end."
Now, to put that in something we can all relate too.
its kinda like the comm who has the perfect plan for victory in the long run but all his team keeps spamming him with requests for shotguns, upgrades, motion tracking, hmgs, jetpacks, armor 1, another IP, ammo, medpacks, res tower, turret factory....

Alot of people feel this way about prayer. And alot of Christians don't know what true prayer is. Prayer isn't a wish-list, it's a connection between you and God, a conversation, most people spend so much time talking AT God that they never hear what God has to say.
I imagine your metaphor is somewhat correct. Sometimes us Christians need to shut-up and let God talk to us and tell us what to do to avoid a bad situation. Instead we ignore God then run to him for help to fix our mistake that we shouldn't of made, if we were listening to God, in the first place.
Does God answer prayers? Yes, the Bible says,
James 5:17
"The effectual ferverent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
Is God ALWAYS going to answer prayers the way WE WANT? No.
Too many Christians adopt the, "Name it, claim it." policy with God. God is still supreme and he can do whatever he wants but he does make a promise to us believers that he will never forsake us and always hear our prayers.

The thing is, I see more and more people every day, especially on here, saying "God is all loving and will forgive everyone, so how dare you hold that something like homosexuality is wrong?"
The fact is, sin is morally repulsive to God, and it should be to people as well. If someone is saying otherwise ... well... might as well let God speak for himself then:
<!--QuoteBegin-Ezekiel 33:+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Ezekiel 33:)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> 1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, 3 and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, 4 then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. 5 Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.'
7 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 8 When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for [a] his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9 But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.
10 "Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of [b] them. How then can we live?" ' 11 Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD , I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?' <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Stop assuming that you speak for God. Instead, take the safe route and simply love thy neighbour as thyself. If there is anything God hates, I'd place my money on "hate itself."
The primary point against your perspective is the separation between sin and sinner.
To use the homosexuality example, I will state it as the difference between homosexuality and homosexuals. Once you see that distinction I think you'll understand the rest of the opposing argument better.
Please do not assume that because it is the opposing argument that you should not take the time to understand it. In the end you can provide a better argument against it and have a more fruitful discussion.
Still, I am quite certain that God hates sin, but not the sinner. Not just because of words from a book, but a certain relationship I'm in.
I'm pretty sure what he is saying is: Don't be so arogant as to assume that you know what God hates or doesn't hate. That goes for sin as well as sinner. Who are you to think you know what the all mighty's opinion on anything is?
However, we can question this among ourselves, what is the most likely attitude God has for/against items and actions which are widely accepted as forbidden by Him?
This would be an attempt of proof by example so it remains a valid point.
edit: added the '/' I missed the first time around.
define: silly restrictive standards
Then you just broke the bible. It must ALL be fiction. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Well, he does want you to live life to the fullest!
Jesus speaking here, "I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly." - John 10:10b
As for "silly restrictive standards", Jesus says, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, whosoever sins is a slave to sin." - John 8:34
The Bible makes it clear that Jesus frees us from our slavery in sin.
I'd encourage you to take a look at Christianity, aside from all the bad press it gets, it fits the mold of what your God would want for you. And it fits the mold of what the God of the Bible wants for all people.

Sorry, but I also feel if there was a god who was truely infalible that he could not have made man in his image because it is inherently flawed, and to prove something impossible to be true negates it as a possibility in the first place. You have a right to feel that way (even if you are wrong). But what gives you the right to impose your biggoted views on anyone else? When the Bible says, "in the image of God." It never says he made them perfect, he clearly didn't want us to be perfect. The fall of man illustrated in scripture clearly shows God created a "flawed" man. I don't think God wanted a perfect creature when he created us, I think he wanted to see who would choose Good over Evil, him over himself, humility over pride and so forth and so on.
But to then say God created man "flawed" on purpose would mean he created them perfect. Perfectly the way he wanted them.
A good point and a hard one to cover properly, CWAG, plus I'm very tired. Hope that made some kind of sense.

Your girlfriend in this scenario doesn't really love you. Love is defined in the Bible, like this...
Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous. Love
is never boastful or conceited...
It is never rude or selfish...It does not take offense, and it
is not resentful.
Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but
delights in truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to
hope, and to endure whatever comes.
~1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Furthermore, it is human nature to love those who love you. (The higher calling is loving those who don't love you!)
On to your next point...
Dodging the issue was not my intent, I thought I made it pretty clear but I'll try again. It's very simple. You choose one or the other, one master over another.
Master #1 lets you do whatever you want, he lets you rely on you and no one else for the most part, the only time he intervenes is when he wants to see you mess-up and have a good laugh. After you've had a good run, he kills you. Death.
Master #2 is stern but loving (love as defined earlier) he looks out for you and protects you, he gives you everything that you ask, so long as he knows it won't harm you or others and in the end, he keeps you alive, with him, forever. Life.
The choice here is, life or death. Long-term, short-term.

My problem is that there's an answer for everything, and they're all copouts.
"Why dosen't god answer my prayers"
A: Test of faith
"If god is so x why dosen't he y?"
A: He has a plan
Etc, etc.
It just isn't good enough for me. The reason there are paradoxes is because the paradoxes generally don't exist.
Christians are fallible and many believe they know more than they do (my own tongue may condemn me here... or my fingers typing this, whatever) I'll be honest and open with you and say I have no idea why God does what he does, I have no idea why he doesn't come down and show everyone that he is God, the ONLY God, that he is just and true.
I try to refrain from alot of cop-outs but sometimes these "cop-outs" are just the answers as given in the Bible.
I still recommend you pick up a Bible and see what you can see, it can't hurt anything, right?
