but where are the aliens and huge things? i thought it was supposed to be about tall towering robot thingys.
(acording to site there are 4 )
And best bet is to have a look site is not down for me
No it's not - it's shifted to a modern America setting. Screw that - wait for the <i>other</i> WotW movie, due this month (apparently - I'll believe it when I see it), which keeps the Victorian setting.

Only trouble with that one is it looks like a non big budget.
Still sorry bout that i heard it was <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Was <i>Independence Day</i> based on Wells' book in some way? I just thought it was adapted from what was originally going to be the sequel to <i>Stargate</i>.
Also, don't forget Jeff Wayne's musical of <i>War of the Worlds</i> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I have to say this version looks much more interesting.
As far as the Speilberg-Cruise version, I'll be looking forward to see how Global Warming and Fast Food caused the aliens to target Earth for destruction.
I'll probably end up going to see it, even if all the reviews say it sucks.

AMATURE ACTING AHOY.
HAVEN'T YOU HEARD ABOUT THE MEN FROM THE STARS?
and the whole flipping film is about walkers, i would only watch it for the walkers, so meh <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
same goes with walkers
I've never actually read the book, but judging from the radio play and the musical (both of which i've heard quite a bit), Nem was referring to this, which is common in both films:
Aliens trash their home planet (remember the president in ID4 saying about how their entire species moves from planet to planet, stripping it's resources and moving on), move on to earth, stomp the **** out of human resistance, and then it gets a bit different (with your basic patriotic "we will not stand down" garbage but basically all Humans go into hiding) and then it ends, not through force of arms, but a virus.
Yup, it's why Alien and Aliens were such good movies.
I think, from the trailers, that this looks pretty good. I'll go to see it.
And if you look closely on the Teaser trailer 2 when there on the water in the boat and its getting knocked over, you see something big shadowed in the waters behind it. im going to go look a little closer and try to get a better glimpse.

Proffesional MSPaint interpretation of what I think it is!

And not much else to offer. Wow that was absolutely horrible.
I think War of the Worlds looks good, Spielberg doesn't really let me down... but then again, there's Tom Cruise.

well, the original concept for the walker (wich i find mighty cool and stylish) is this:

see?
no arms and way longer legs
Why do they always have to mess with the originals? why???
PS: The thing is flipping huge, 80+ metres, with the legs even if they look like stils a diametre of 5 meters or so.
Thats impressive, not this lame chubby robot in the water over there
And the robit in the screen is a little ways in the background, so it may be pretty tall...
We'll just have to wait and see I geuss.
