Also who would do the testing?
Would it be mustang, arguably the greatest fade in NS, or someone else less qualified.
In order to test this I believe a consistent skill group is neccesary.

SwiftSpear, you already get free MT within the range of the obs, so that wouldn't be a change. Plus, you already get to see (on your map) aliens within the area of the ping.
Personally, I agree that MT does take a way a lot of the skill/fun involved because it makes ambushing next to impossible. It is also way too expensive/slow to research to be a viable upgrade early on. It's one of those things where the comm goes, "Oh, I've got some extra res, and I have an extra obs to beacon already, plus e2/a2 is already done...so let's research MT as well" upgrades.
So, why not just change MT so aliens only show up as red dots on map/minimap? Blue circles are gone, so you won't know exactly where the alien is, but you'd know one was in the next room waiting for you. The research time and cost would be drastically reduced to it can potentially be a first upgrade. It has to be fast enough to early game isn't already over by the time it is researched. Maybe a 45 second research time?

Possibly a secondary upgrade to resore the blue circles could be implimented as a more accessable end game recearchable, like MT L2. Great way to restore the compeditive usefullnes of the upgrade (since it would be VERY useful to the comm) while at the same time removing the overpowered effect of MT making early silence useless in pubs.
