Question:
As an IE->Opera->Firefox convert, what in Opera 8 should interest me enough to try it again?
• CabooseCaboose title = name(self, handle) Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13597Members, Constellation
A guy swiming from Norway to the US?
• torquetorque Join Date: 2003-08-20 Member: 20035Members, NS1 Playtester, Constellation
... that's a pretty good reason.

I'll keep checking this thread, but I probably won't bother trying it unless there are some good reasons posted.

There's an ad banner with opera, and you have to pay to remove it? I think I'll stick with Firefox.

Sure. As soon as you provide one, I'll...

Wait a sec. *clicks link*. Holy helm of frost shield! You're not kidding!

Although, if you think about it, that's really more of a vote of no confidence by the guy.

install this then get opera, they'll be the same, except with nested windows instead of just tabs.

Basically it is a useless feature that you will never ever find a practical use for.
• CabooseCaboose title = name(self, handle) Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13597Members, Constellation
less clutter?

Instead of making new windows for popups, say fileplanet for example, it makes a nested window instead, leaving my taskbar roomier.

Firefox is easily capable of making popups like that go to a new tab.

Doesn't opera have mouse gesture extensions out of the box anyway?

Least I remember it doing so back when I used it before Firefox.

Opera has mouse gestures. They're pretty nifty. Right-Click + Wheel = Scroll through different windows.

I loves the Opera.

Having tabs function as windows is something I wish Firefox did. I've switched from Opera because Firefox is so much faster, but that's one thing I miss sometimes.

Firefox say: Download our browser, it's much more secure than internet explorer, faster, and much more compatible.
Opera say: Download our browser, and I'll swim the Atlantic.

Hmmmm.

Well, actually, you don't even need an extension to make it do that, but you should download that one anyway.

I'm currently typing this in Opera8. Our WLAN server has a built-in adblocker, so I don't really get bothered by the banner, and I always preferred the tabbing system, not to mention the significantly 'cleaner' mouse gestures. It's a case of 'to each his own', I guess, but if you're undecided, I'd suggest you give both a whirl, you just might prefer Opera.

I thought this was about that hl1 mod called the opera (with the stunts n all) heh

The problem with bringing up anything with "opera has..." is that it's immediately rendered irrelevant by the fact that firefox will have about 30 extensions that all do the same thing so basically it's opera with ads or firefox with no ads :o
