    I might have to switch from firefox because for some reason FF always slows to a crawl after I've downloaded a few files (and has a tendency to crash on me after I've downloaded several jpgs/gifs, for instance. Annoying when I can't use DownThemAll on some sites, because DTA dowloads fine. Seems to be an issue with the download manager or something)

    How many entries are there in your download manager? It can get kind of slow if you have too many, necessitating cleanup.

    Maybe I'm just blind, but I have so far seen no FF plugin with sensible nested tabs, nor am I aware of a <i>good</i> mouse gesture plugin. I tested the best-rated versions on the main site, and they all felt unneccessarily 'hitchy' compared to the opera implementations. This is not a O > FF post, I'd seriously appreciate pointers at such plugins since I use FF for all sites Opera has issues with.

    I know one good tabbing extension for FF... although you have to config everything manually to get a good opera like result.

    And I forogt it's name.

    The new one takes a good 2 seconds to load a site with many pics... the old was way slower.

    I prefer the way firefox handle the tab browsing. It's much easier to mess up the windows in Opera, since I'm the lazy bastard.

    by the way, who purchases a browser anymore? I remember buying Netscape 2.0 like back in '93 or '94. Sure I'll download it again just for the heck, but that doesn't mean I'll be converted again(<span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'>converted meaning that downloading the free version will urge me to buy the $40 browser</span>).

    On WindowsXP, the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts gets checked for DNS before asking a DNS server. Each line in it is an IP and a name to send to that IP. If you find the domain names for adservers and tell this file that their IPs are all 127.0.0.1, your browser won't retrieve ads from them but instead look on your own machine and then produce "page could not be found" blocks where the ads should go.

    Is Opera gmail compatible yet?

    What I prefer about Opera are:

    -tabs are windows, not just simple tabs.
    -Mouse Gestures are much more intuitive.
    -It doesn't feel like a patchwork of 1000 add-ons and extensions.
    -The "wand" is much better than the auto-complete.
