I heard it was really un-faithful to the books. Eh, I really like the books, DA was (is) a wonderful writer.

I am so taking off Friday classes to see it! And I have my towel to accompany me!

whoa whoa whoa, step back a moment, you mean it didn't suck? and why are you just saying "it's great" why aren't you raving and drooling about it? i'm confused, explain more!! just how awesome is it if it is in fact awesome?

Has anyone else seen it? I want it to be good, but I need more reassurance than just one opinion, especially after the mediocre reviews.

Not that surprising. You try condensing 6 books worth of action (a large part of which doesn't take place in dialogue or in scenes with the main characters) into a 2 hour movie.

And, sadly, I really have to agree with AllUrHive. Though I'm still going to watch the movie.

I was under the impression that this movie only really covers the first book (while making some new crap up as well). Cuz doesn't it end with them heading for Milliways?

I have no idea; I could've sworn I heard it was based on all the films, and that they weren't planning a sequel. If it is based on just the first book, I will be surpremely happy. They still won't fit it all in one movie, but they'll come a lot closer.

I'll wait until someone who has read the book/radio series/other comes back and tells me how the film was.

Did the film have a guide entry on towels ? or how The babelfish was used to prove that god didnt exist?

I have no faith in hollywood. I doubt I'll even rent the movie unless someone I trust tells me its worth seeing.

Seriously though this is disappointing because I can't ask you if the movie was true to the book.

PS: As a general rule I try not to watch a film based on a book, until I've read the book.

The books are not the definitive version of the HHG!

In fact, the radio show came first. Each incarnation of the HHG (Radio show, books, TV show, game) have been different in some way. This movie is no different.

On that note, is anyone else going to the theatre on Friday with a towel?
