i played the beta/demo
it sucked pretty much.
the explosions looked quite nice, they have shockwavaves affecting your vision and such, but the rest was pretty lame.
unbalanced, way to fast, ect.
just not fun!

Oh, I didn't know that. I need to check out some screens then. But I'm sure it doesn't use it as good as it could since it came out so soon.

As for the reviews for it, it is just supposed to be average (like most DE single player games that come out).

As far as I can understand it from the artical, the engine is pretty much done from a functionality stand point, and at this point what they are working on is interface and art.

yea, so pariah isnt UE3, sorry for the confusion, but the engine is most definitely done. I mean im sure they're still working on it, but they are mostly making models and textures and maps (a LOT of work). I've seen theres already a couple other companies woking on games for this engine, and they have quite a bit to show off from the various clips i've seen.

Amazing lighting, physics, detail, textures, and hopefully gameplay

As for pariah, from the screenshots I've seen the world is much more detailed than HL²'s and the characters and weapons are of quite simmilar quality. HL² just reduced alot of possible world detail for scalability, while making characters have different LODs for different detail settings. In other words, the HL² props and characters are amazing models, and are at least as detailed as pariah, but pariah's world is more detailed (texture and model wise) so I give them a leg up on visuals (but yea gameplay is kinda lacking....)
