I am done with RS, FOREVER!
Alrighty, as some of you know I have been trying to find a new job to finally rid myself of the lots of work I do. (Over 14hrs a day).

I recently went and took the local police written test for my city, and I completed the BPAD portion of the test as of June 16th, I recieved a call today from the city's Human resources and I have been offered the job of policeman/woman.

So, I now get to turn in my two weeks at radioshack, and I shall be protecting all of you nubs in a disjointed kind of way.

In celebration... here are some pictars... :-)

Not my uniform at first, but I shall show it as soon as I get it.

Your fantasies boys:
*Edited out huge picture.. didn't like it much either.*

So why did you want to be a policewoman?

I have always wanted to protect people in a direct way rather then indirect and since I can't go into the army, the police force was my next option.

I orginally wanted to be a fire fighter, however the physical requirements pwnzored me on the test.

SF PD is 8am to 5pm training for six months, then 8 to 5 for three months then you get to pick your patrol, of course since I'll be a newbie, I will probably have to stay 8 to 5 for a while longer then I want.

I've always wanted to try being a police officer what do you have to do other than a test
  • CyndaneCyndane Join Date: 2003-11-15 Member: 22913Members
There are four parts of this position here in SF.

    1. Fill out application.
    2. Take written test.
    3. Take BPAD Role-play test. (Drug test and very intensive background screen)
    4. Interview and/or conditional offer if BPAD score is high enough.

I have the conditional offer at this time, I have to start training quite soon and I am excited. It will be nice to work an normal job time for a few months, and then be able to help people.

What's the training like and how long is it? Let me add, is it the type of training where you stay in a barracks 24/7 for a certain period of time like oh I don't know...military boot camp, or is it just an 8 to 5 type of thing where you go home to do your thing and sleep afterwards?

is the dryg test about checking if you can survive taking drugs? or if know how to take drugs?

In the city of sioux falls it is an 8 to 5 boot camp thing.

The drug test is to see if you have EVER taken drugs, which is quite accurate.. I think they said up to seven years in the past.

If they used this on civilians in the US, I estimate about 99.9% of the population would come up positive. The remaining 00.1% would be infants.

SF PD is 8am to 5pm training for six months
    then
8 to 5 pm partnering with someone during the day for three months
    then
you pick your shift but most rookies are required to work the day shift for another 3 to 6 months

What are the physical assessment requirements? How many push ups, sit ups, how many minutes do you have to run at what distance? I googled some of this getting different results. The stuff was below military standards but most people who join the military are young kids and the standards scale to age so I guess the standards I saw were very similar.

@Bosian Cowboy: I do not know yet, I'm sure I shall find out as soon as I get my invitational papers back from the county human resource office. So... I expect it in a few days.

I would taser a jay-walker too, that would be funny. Of course, that could be considered excessive force, so I shall have to resort to just beating them with my baton.

A jay walker is someone who crosses a street without using a crosswalk. As pictured below.
*edit* Forgot to mention, if you fail to stay in the lines of the crosswalk it is a misdormeaner, and is a $100 fine (Misdormeaner == minor crime, doesn't go on your record, usually.)

I promise as soon as I have my full uniform I shall take a picture for all of you.
